Leonardo Hotel IJmuiden Seaport Beach

"The Leonardo Hotel IJmuiden Seaport Beach was a PERFECT place to stay prior to my granddaughters embarking on her "Semester at Sea" program cruise ship. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff upon our early arrival. It seemed they were well prepared for the many guests arriving for this program. Our room was available for occupancy in advance of the published check in time. Additionally front desk staff arranged for a taxi in advance of embarking on the ship as the "path" appeared close but was hindered by staircases and as it turned out heavy rain the next morning. We selected a room identified for families in order to accommodate the three of us. The room was very spacious room, an additional bedroom, a beautiful balcony with a view of the marina and cruise ships. The shower, sink and dressing area were in a separate room from the toilet and sink. This configuration made it quite convenient for multiple guests. My compliments to all the staff in the restaurant. The design of the kitchen allowed visibility of the chefs preparing meals and they were responsive to arriving guests. The wait staff and bartenders were equally pleasant and offered delicious suggestions for our meal. A morning buffet for breakfast was beautifully presented but we chose just specialty coffees to start our day. This was a wonderful location for our "sendoff"."

"The room refrigerator did not work. The in room coffee maker leaked water and did not work. The room was inconvenient in its location in a separate building. The halls were tight. We were not informed of the second entrance for the best place to park. The elevators were very small. We had large bags and had trouble getting through the narrow hall to the second building."

"Staying at this hotel was an incredible and unique experience! The way the old prison has been transformed into a modern hotel is absolutely brilliant. The historic atmosphere is preserved perfectly, and the clean rooms are very comfortable. The staff is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with duties, but they work incredibly hard and do their absolute best to keep the atmosphere and everything else perfect. Both the breakfast and parking options were excellent. Highly recommended!"

"the room was a larger American size hotel room with clean large bathrooms and huge bed. The carpet and sofa were moderately used but that is expected in a touristy spot that has high utilization. We had a difficult time finding a on-demand taxi or bus(does not come often) so it is about a 3/4 mile walk to the train station . If you plan on walking\biking a lot every where and to Texel island, this is a good hotel(even with the park on the north side) to launch from. BTW; the lunch and soup were good here."
