The pools were great, the room was comfortable, but.... the food (except for the breakfast buffet) was really below average. We ate at the "western" restaurant and the meal was quite poor, and served with cold rice. The staff was irritated when we complained about the rice, so we ate our food and left. The big problem with this is that the hotel is so isolated that it is not easy to get to another restaurant, so you either put up with it or leave. We left.

Pleasant stay but itching experience!!!
We were bitten by the SAND FLIES at the pool area. Be careful, you will not realise you have been bitten until several hours later and for days, you will itch. The itch even keeps you awake at night too, unless a visit to the doctor for an injection and applying topical antibiotic cream will reduce/ stop the scratching.

The hotel looked amazing, and was in great condition. Friendly service staff all round. An added bonus is a huge garden and beach - perfect for a relaxing walk. However, do note that the location is rather far from Haikou city center, about 20 min by car.

Bad experience at the dinner. It was supposedly buffet but realized that food was never replenished through out the night. Many of the staff were unsure of their duties or not well trained to handle guests’ queries. A lot more to be done for a 5-star hotel.

Not what I expected
Things posted on internet were not available. Like 24 hour shuttle bus and there spa was not open. Nothing available on the beach to do do! Very limited items in convenience store. To do anything away from hotel is by bus or taxi.

Title says it all. The hotel was fantastic. Great pools and beach. Reasonable gym. Good lifeguards, very attentive. Great food in all the restaurants and good service. Short ride into town where we food more top restaurants and shops.

Excellent location
3 pools on the property and on the ocean. Fantastic beach with great sand. Was a little far from downtown but an inexpensive taxi ride. Would definitely go back.

Lovely Hotel, Isolated Location
Hotel was very nice, as were the pools and rooms. Location is a bit of a bummer since there's nothing to eat or do in walking distance and things in the hotel are a bit pricey. Great for a single night to recoup or to make sure you're close to the airport (30 min cab ride was $100RMB).

Nice staff but bad location and transportation
The hotel staff are very nice, esp hotel manager Coco, she has been very helpful, definitely a great asset of the hotel. However, the hotel is located in a very remote area with no access to the city centre, the so called free shuttle bus only runs to/from airport or centre twice a day with fixed schedule, so you can disregard the airport pick up service. Even if you want to book the airport shuttle, you have to walk all the way to the train station to take it, it is super inconvenient. If i will go to Haikou again, i will surely choose another hotel.

Beautiful hotel on an unswimmable beach
This hotel is a mixed bag. It is huge and opulent, with lovely grounds, and a view of the ocean. My room was large, exceedingly comfortable, with lots of amenities, and a large balcony. The staff are helpful and enough of them speak English. But the beach is not clean, and signs warn against swimming in the ocean. There is nothing of note nearby, except a row of derelict properties along the beach next to it. The hotel has a couple of good restaurants, but only one viable option for lunch, and it was overwhelmed by demand (and, because of the location, there is nowhere else to go for lunch). Internet service is slow, and China blocks too many sites anyway.

Nice new hotel by the beach
I spent 3 nights at this hotel, the experience overall was good. Kids had fun at the pool while the adults enjoyed the nice cool breeze tanning by the beach - the beach is just a few steps away from the pool area. A few comments I have are: 1) the housekeeping finishings were not up to a typical Hilton standard, e.g when I first entered the room the floor at the entry way was wet and the shower floor was wet though clean, 2) there is no airconditioning in most areas of the hotel eg lobby, corridors and western restaurant which made it quite hot given the hot and humid weather, 3) the airconditioning and ceiling fan in my room did not work, same case for my family members staying in 2 other rooms, 4) this hotel is quite inaccessible to other parts of town without a car as it is at least a 10-15 minute drive out to some random shops in the middle of nowhere / at least 30 minutes to the harbour/haikou city area and it didnt help when there was major road construction outside the hotel area that requires you to take a detour just to get out of the hotel area. I would recommend this hotel if you are in Haikou for a relaxing beach holiday but not if you want to sightsee.

This is definitely the nicest Hilton I've ever stayed at. The staff was super friendly and most spoke English quite well. The room was great. However, the hotel is not close to anything. And because roads are all torn up from construction and flood easily, it can make for a long/very bumpy ride anywhere. Also, the lobby bar kind of sucks. Really bright lighting and noisy from the lobby. Not cozy or inviting at all. The only other bar wasn't open due to bad weather. Also, the beach looks pretty from afar, but it's actually COVERED in trash. I understand there is no way for the hotel to control that on a daily basis but it does seem like they'd be able to block a small portion off right in front of the access and keep it clean. Fortunately, the pool area is incredible and just a few feet away.

This as a wonderful hotel on all fronts, my only complaint was there was no white wine available. The staff worked very hard at ensuring my stay was comfortable, even to the point of telling Chinese nationals to control their children and to keep their voices down - they are an extremely noisy and nosy bunch the Chinese which is ok but not in a world class hotel.

Great service and facilities . Although not all staff speak English but they will find one who will.Comfortable bed and clean. The carpet smells a little musky but that is probably due to sea and humidity. The buffet breakfast is very extensive.The only negative is one has to take the taxi to anywhere and the cab fares are expensive. The shuttle bus only takes you to a shopping mall and the airport. There is no shuttle from the airport to the hotel.The hotel is located in a construction area. Things are pretty expensive. Always check the price buying esp the taxi before boarding Overall just it is a lovely hotel but a little far away from the downtown.

wonderful hideaway
one of the best hotels in the PRC. the hotel is huge and beautifully decorated. I was upgraded to the executive floor upon arrival which was delightful. the staff were polite and helpful. the room was one of the most elegantly decorated I have ever stayed in, with modern amenities and gadgets. the hotel had three pools and was beachfront located ~ I was spoilt for choice in deciding which pool to take a dip in. the location of the hotel was rural and run down so it's best to stay within. only complaint was the food. my cheese burger arrived beautifully presented but the burger patty tasted like rubber. breakfast was a la carte only and hefty ~ consisted of eggs sausages bacon steak fruit bread and juice ~ personally way too much (maybe that's why it was called american breakfast).

VERY VERY VERY NICE, BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE
The hotel is really cosy, the staff is lovely. the swimming pool is a bit small but the beach is near and its a very nice one. i recommend this hotel if you dont care to be far from the center

Surprising visit
We arrive on the 1st or 2nd week after the hotel was open, so we witness the grand opening ceremony on our departure day, and we're had sea view room, which has magnificent view of the sea and hotel's nicely decorated garden. As probably the 1st occupant of the room, everything was good and in top shape, except couple of (very) annoying design imperfection. The balcony door has a small gap somewhere, so when the door is fully closed and locked, the sea wind makes a whistling sounds, that disturb me all nights, specially when you're under 12 hr jetlag. Also there seems a mistake on the wiring/program, that makes the A/C turned on when you open the balcony door. Normally this should be he opposite as I know. Then the toilet/shower heavy glass doors are badly design, that it bangs very loudly if you're not holding the handle while closing it. The beach it self was muddy and not swimmable, also the surrounding beach, which is not hotel property, was full of plastics garbage from the sea, as well the view was ruin by a rundown old hotel next door. Also, pls. notice that you'll need the proper hotel name printed in Chinese characters, or the proper pinyin, to tell taxi driver to go there. Apart from those, the hotel itself was awesome, service was great, buffer breakfast and the restaurant was very nice as well. It has ATM to withdraw cash from overseas account, with same surcharge/rate with downtown ones.
