The BEST in CLASS in Hamburg!
If I could I would give the Hotel Volksschule a 100/10 star rating. The hotel is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at. Each and every staff member from Dominik at the front desk to the staff at breakfast do their part to make your stay exceptional. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. This was so comforting to me, as I was traveling from the US, and am not proficient in German, yet the staff helped me out with everything I needed from navigating the metro to ordering takeout on an app. The common areas of the hotel allow for nice socialization either in the bar area or outside at the tables. It did not matter the time of day of when I needed something, there was always a staff member to provide assistance in a welcoming and charming way. I wish I could take the staff home with me as they were THAT GOOD! I highly recommend the Hotel Volksschule without reservation. Also hats off to the decor team - every detail has a purpose -quite whimsy and pleasant. You get to test your math skills on the clocks! FUN!

Beautiful building inside and out. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was a comfort room and it was very big. The bed was super comfy and a fantastic delicious breakfast. So much choice and the scrambled eggs were delicious. The subway is a few mins walk and gets you everywhere easily. We found the subway easy to get around. From the airport you need the green line (S1) and change at central to the red (U2) to the hotel. Easy! You can buy a group pass for up to 5 people for 13 euros. Hamburg is a brilliant city

Absolutely Perfect
A delightful boutique hotel in a very quiet neighborhood that is just a short walk to the subway so you are just minutes from anywhere in Hamburg. The architecture and design is superb and the service is exceptional. Everything about our stay was perfect.

Very pleasant hotel just outside the city. Easy to use nearby subway train. Great option if you have a car, free parking. Converted school , rooms are nice, comfortable and fairly simple. Breakfast included was very good . Bar was reasonable, no other facilities - really just a place to sleep over and a good option if you want to save the expense of a city center hotel.

Wonderful new, updated hotel on the outskirts of hamburg. Maria at the front desk speaks English and recommended a wonderful Greek restaurant close by called Inos for dinner. What a great evening! Breakfast at the hotel is huge! Nice rooms, bathrooms too.

This hotel is in what used to be a school. It is very unique building. The rooms were large and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage due to getting to the hotel early and had several hours until check in. The breakfast bar was filled with lots of goodies and well maintained during a busy breakfast. It is off the main road which helped with noise. It is close to the train which made it convenient to travel into the main city center. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

This hotel is a decent value for Hamburg! The breakfast in particular was exceptional,-best I’ve seen in a long time. This location is about 3 minutes walk from the nearest metro,-which is all you need! The staff is also quite helpful! That is not to say everything went off without a problem. I did have problems connecting to Wi-Fi,- however, the staff did everything possible to accommodate including offering to change rooms and even loaning me an I-pad. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Awesome Breakfast and Cool Decor
This hotel was a great experience and the staff was super friendly and accommodating for all my neediness. The room didn’t have a tea kettle or coffee maker but there was complimentary coffee in the lobby of the hotel. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in Germany with lots of good breads, yogurts, cheese, etc. The school themed decor was cool since the building used to be a school. It only took about 20 minutes to get downtown by train. I’d stay there again.

Great for tourists and weekend trips. Beautiful room with lovely windows that open wide! Great breakfast buffet with many options. It's away from the city center but a 5 minute walk from public transit and a 10min ride to HBF. Would recommend if you're a tourist - drop your bags, hop on transit and tour all day knowing your hotel is a 30minute ride away in case for need a break/forget something. Only downfall is area - no restaurants/night life and the station can get a little sketchy with all the hobos/drunks.

There was no English programme in TV except Bloomberg. Not even a news channel. Due to location of the hotel, much time will be spent in the room, but because of lack of entertainment, it was uncomfortable. Other than breakfast, no food was available in the hotel. At least aome sandwiches could be made available. No coffee/tea making facility was available. Overall this hotel is not recommended for English speaking guests.
