We had a wonderful 5-night stay here. This is not your typical casa particular, it's a beautiful mansion where you wish you could live for real. It sits on top of the hill and offers impressive views of the city. The staff is very friendly and will make you feel warmly welcome. The place is spotless clean, comfortable and full of character and history.
The breakfast is generous, fresh and healthy, and changes a bit everyday. It consists of fruits, juice, coffee/tea, ham, cheese, eggs, toasts and the surprise of the day (pancakes, pastries and other yummy stuff we had no idea existed), and it made us feel full for a long time.
Being about 6.5 km away from the hectic center, it offers peace and fresh air, and it feels good to retreat there after a long day out. However, it also means you'll probably have to take a taxi to go to most places, and you can expect to pay 10 CUC each way for the city center/Old Havana. The neighbourhood used to be very affluent, so you'll find many mansions around the house, most of which are in ruins now. There isn't much to do in the area, but there's a good restaurant called la Fondita Heredia. Cuba in general is very safe, and this neighbourhood is no exception. We walked around at night and it was fine.
