Interesting - no one there to check in or out. Just left key on counter for us. Nice and clean room, small and basic, but that’s all we needed for a short overnight stop.

Value for money but the apartment which sleeps 4 could do with a refresh and refurbishment. Great location in Havelock.

Cosy kitchen. Didn't much like the room, which was a concrete box, but serviceable enough for a quick overnight stay after catching the late ferry.

Quite homely plus it had a sauna! Very pleasant and helpful staff. Located on the main street through Havelock. Also handy for the marina.

Room was a great size for four people. Lovely large deck with a view of the boats. Good cooking facilities if needed. We walked to dinner (there were lots of options).

Fun and friendly
Clean, comfortable and good value. We stayed in the apartment which was spacious and had a great balcony looking out over Havelock. It's not The Ritz, but it's unpretentious and friendly and I would certainly stay there again

When we first initial arrived there it was freezing cold but overall we did sleep ok .we didn't actually realise it was more of a backpackers.

Comfortable bed and the room was warm. Unfortunately it was on the front of the building where all the road noise from trucks on the state highway from 3.30am kept me awake.

Not bad
The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable but there were a few cobwebs. The bathroom was very clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped. The WiFi worked well. Lots of parking. Good proximity to the rest of Havelock

We arrived late and tried to be quiet, to prevent disturbing sleeping guests, but hinges on cabin door seemed to require oiling, as creaky... as was the door of the guests who arrived later than us.

A haven on a rainy night.
A place for backpackers which welcomed us, a senior couple. Why this place has a 2.9 is unjustified. The ambiance is friendly. People who pay one star should not expect five star lodging.

Good place to stay before a kayak adventure
We enjoyed our time at the Bluemoon Lodge. It is reasonably priced and falls between a hostel and a hotel. A bit closer to a hotel in that you can have a private room and bath, but don't expect extra services. The staff was friendly and the room was tidy. The fridge in the room gave us a good chuckle. The lodge is also the starting point for the Pelorus Eco Adventure Kayak trip, which was the main reason we selected the lodge.

Nice hot shower
Good location and comfortable for a family of four for a quick stopover. Arrived late and left early. Could heat food and cook toast and have a cuppa, which served its purpose. Unbelievably good shower! But a bit expensive for what you get -- probably about 50 bucks over priced.

Smelly, crowded, and clueless staff. Once was good, but it has changed. There are better alternatives nearby. Do not go to Blue Moon.

Good budget accommodation
Back-packer accomodation - budget room so no en-suite but comfortable and perfectly adequate for the purpose. Very well equipped kitchen and shared bathrooms were clean and serviceable

Shared Bunk Room not worth $66
A couple days before making the Ferry crossing from Wellington to Picton - with a 6 p.m. arrival and rental car pickup - I hunted around on-line for a cheap overnight accommodation in Picton or Blenheim for my son and me so we could start our longer journey south rested. Nothing much was showing up for less expensive places for Friday night. Then this $33 dollar price popped up at a place in Havelick 45 minutes west (not my preferred direction). of Picton. This was for bunks in a shared room, shared bathroom & other facilities. OK. My booking clearly said 2 adults/1 room. So when the option of 2 bunks (I thought) for $33 popped up, I was like, "Sure I'll drive 45 minutes out of my way for that price!" OK, you're thinking, "You're stupid." But there it was in the confirmation, "You pay the hotel $33.00." When we arrived around 7:30 p.m., the Blue Moon was dark, but the door not locked. We found the Reception and some guy back in the kitchen said the owners were out. Helped us find the note and key they'd left for the bunk room. They had not left the wifi password. We made our beds in the freezing cold room without a heater. One widow was painted open and couldn't be locked. No towels, just an ice cold air dryer in the WC. Never saw the owners 'til morning. Everything would have been acceptable at $33. But when I went to pay she said $33 was per person. For slightly more than $66, we could have avoided the drive and gotten much better stopping at a random "vacancy" sign.
