"A really convenient hotel for central Oxford (and Blenheim) as close to the park and ride. There's a bus stop directly outside the hotel that takes you right into the centre of the city for less than £3 - meaning you can avoid the congestion & clean air zone charges by leaving the car in the huge car park. Reception is lovely, as are the staff, lots of little extras...free fruit, free cold drinks & spritz for the grown ups - which on the hotest day of the year was very welcome! The bedroom was spacious & the air con actually worked & the room cooled within minutes, which as the temps reached 34° was a huge bonus & meant we slept soundly! Only criticism would be, whilst the bedroom looked relatively newly renovated, the bathroom was dire!!! The bath had repairs around the edge with sharp edges on the bath side, the door hinges were orange with rust and the bottom of the door had huge chunks of psint missiing... tbf the whole bathroom felt like it hadn't been updated since the early 80s & it was tiny! The bedroom was huge & could easily have given space up to a larger bathroom. We only stayed for one night so didnt raise the issue with the poorly repaired bathroom with reception, but when I stay here again (and I will stay here again!) I will insist that the room we are given have a much better/updated bathroom next time."
"On the hottest day of the year our room had no fan, and the radiators in the dining room were broken so left on all day - unbearable! No plates at breakfast, no bread for toast, and all the juice had run out over half hour before the end. All in all, a very disappointing stay"
"Fabulous hotel, extremly well maintained and clean. Staff very welcoming. Breakfast good variety and pleasant environment. Would return and recommend.
Thank you"
"Great hotel with loads of character. Perfect location for exploring Oxford and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning."
"The room was quite clean, but I did not like that the carpet in both the room and the hotel was very dirty. I believe a hotel should not have carpets in such poor condition.
The staff was okay, but not very friendly. I think this may be related to the way British people are, although if you work in customer service, you should always provide the best experience possible.
The breakfast was excellent, with very helpful staff and delicious, fresh food. Parking was average.
Also, the lack of air conditioning in the room was very inconvenient, and there was no ice machine available either."
"We overall had a wonderful stay, however there were a few areas that improvements are needed.
The good -
-Rooms very spacious (and thank god for the aircon in the heat).
-The property was clean and also had a wonderful garden area. It’s really close to everything as well.
-Breakfast was also really good value for money with everything you can think of available.
-Friendly staff
The bad
-Check in. Minimal staff to check guests in at 3pm (check in time) so was extremely long wait. Were offered free drinks from the bar as an apology (which turned out to be a limited selection when claiming when that were not made aware of when first given them, however they are aware of how many guests are checking in on what day, staffing accordingly would make sense.
-Bathroom really needs updating - the shower over the bath has zero pressure. The anti slip severely stained, as is the plug hole. Tap for sink also only just hangs over the sink so when washing hands, water goes everywhere.
We were also unfortunately to find hairs from previous guest still in the bath
-Cleaners. On morning of check out, we were making most of our room before leaving due to us not wanting to be too early to where we were heading onto. Around 9:30 the cleaner knocked to see if we were still present. Made her aware that we didn’t plan on leaving until around 10:30/10:45.
20 minutes later she knocked again and seemed extremely annoyed that we were still there."
