The cabins are clean. The kitchen comes with essentials. However, you would think for the price you would get complimenty coffee. Its off a noisy highway.

Thank you for your review Pedro. Pine Rest Cabins is situated on Highway 385, like most lodging establishments in the area, as our back yards are Black Hills National Forest! We strive to have clean cabins with essentials, sorry that we can not provide all things desired by everyone. We hope that you enjoyed your stay in the beautiful Black Hills!

The cabin was clean, spacious and quaint. The staff were willing to assist with extra blankets and a hair dryer. The cabin was very accessible to many of the area attractions.

The cabin itself was great had everything we needed! Location was wonderful close to everything ! It is right off the highway don’t let pictures deceive you so very noisy The property could use an overhaul very unkept on the outside communication not too great we checked in and it was 85 degrees in the cabin and fireplace was running we turned it off our selves at one point we had no water then it came back in later in the day coffee shop rarely open never had much communication at all not sure I would pick this place again

Good morning Mandy.Thank you for your review.Pine Rest is incredibly close to so many wonderful things and as is common in this area, lodging establishments are on highways because we are in the Black Hills National Forest . The photos from the porch of each cabin are intended to show the road, so people are aware. Being outside of city limits, we do have a well for water. Sometimes someone can leave a toilet running and that can drain our water supply. I am glad the maintenance man fixed that in a timely manner. Thank you for letting us know when that occurred. The Coffee shop is Open 5 days a week, 8-3 during the summer, closed on Wednesday and Saturday (Days when other coffee shops in the area are available.) Those days are consistent year round. (However we close earlier in the off season) We hope that overall you had a wonderful trip to the Black Hills. Thank you for staying with us.

Very Disappointing
Very disappointing property. No AC or WiFi. Apparently built in 1940’s or 50’s and not updated since. Windows are propped up with sticks and hopefully you don’t break finger trying to open. Door to bedroom was curtain on rod. Located 100 feet from busy road and too noisy to sleep until after 11:00 and good luck after 5:00 AM. Definitely would not recommend.

Hello Anonymous Guest. We are sorry that you were disappointed in your stay. Pine Rest Cabins was established in 1911. The Cabin I believe you stayed in was built in the 40's. I believe that the pictures of the cabin honestly depict that. There is also a picture of the highway from the front porch. The listing says there is no A/C and can not promise a noiseless room. We do try to be transparent with what we do have to offer guests. We are rustic, historic cabins, not modern new builds. There are many new, modern cabins in the Black Hills area that probably would have been a better fit for you; sorry we were not a good fit for you. We hope that you enjoyed your trip to the beautiful Black Hills regardless of your disappointment.

Many issues
Overall, not happy with this lodging for the price we paid. The property was overall clean, however, there were many areas of dissatisfaction. Drive way was gravel and had large ruts from heavy rain. Towels in cabin were old and had an odor. Hot tub was dirty the evening we checked in which created an uninviting experience. The appliances and dishware were old. The tub had an odor after its use (smelled like a dirty diaper).

Hello AnonymousWe wish that you had brought the things that you mention in this review to our attention while you were staying with us, as we would have done our best to help you have a more satisfactory stay. We can not "fix" things after the fact and we can not read minds, so I urge every guest, no matter where you are staying to bring things to the attention of the establishment while you are there. Our jobs are to enhance and help guests enjoy their stay and their trip over all. Fortunately after many summers with drought, we had torrential rain the entire month of June and early July. Unfortunately, it does make gravel drives difficult to drive on and we can not fill the ruts until the rain stops because it just continues to wash away. I believe you may have checked in on the evening that another cabin's children had used the hot tub unsupervised. Unfortunately we can not keep an eye on that constantly, but I do know that our Maintenance staff drained the hot tub and cleaned it, having it ready for use the next morning. It would be helpful for us to know things like smells or broken items as we can fix them or replace them. Thank you for staying and we hope you enjoyed your trip to the hills regardless of the issues.

Being so close to the road you can hear the cars go by but it was a great location to see all the sights. We went to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and Custer State Park. The hot tub cabin was a life saver when the weather dipped. It was the perfect oasis. This is a quaint cabin with all the necessities to feel like home in a perfect location.

Hill City is a wonderful spot to stay in the center of all the action! We are close to the road, being surrounded by the beautiful Black Hills National forest, but the beauty of the hills out weighs the presence of noise in our eyes. Thank you for your review Lucy!
