Hjerting is in the south-western part of Denmark, near Ho Bugt (bay), which forms the most northern part of Vadehavet national park, which is an internationally protected area.

On the other side of Ho Bay, the North Sea is only a few kilometres away, offering you a completely different experience with high waves and water as far as you can see. Go for a walk along the beach and see some of the remnants from the Second World War in the shape of old bunkers that are located in the dunes.
In Hjerting a 660-metre long promenade and beach park has been established, and from here you can swim or enjoy the view all year round. You can also spend a weekend or a longer holiday in Hjerting exploring the region. You can go to Esbjerg and see the fascinating Mennesket ved Havet (Men at Sea), a sculpture that looks out onto sea.
It is easy to get to Esbjerg on the motorway if you are coming from the west. If you are coming from the north, for example Billund Airport, which is about an hour away, take road 20.
