"It was a special day for me and my date (a surprise for her) for my 51st birthday, and although we arrived roughly 15 minutes before checkin...our room was not close to being ready. We had to wait for a call to let us know when we could go to our room. Although the staff were amazingly nice...they offered an immediate checkin to a room that had lesser amenities and not as nice...without a discount.
Again, they ladies were top notch, but I presumed maybe a complementary drink at the bar while we waited or a comped room service drink order once we checked in...and they did ask, but were told no because we were technically early. But, it was over an hour after check in time when we received the call the room was ready.
Im not asking for a refund or complaining about the actual stay but, it ruined the moment persay and we felt ...outside of the front desk employees... we were not compensated even with something small...to reconcile the inconvenience. Other equally nice hotels would have offered something to show gratitude. We didn't make a scene and would go back...but I believe the customer service was lacking in that area.
