Unfortunately I was disappointed to find the sports bar area closed for the duration of my staff without being informed at the time of booking. I booked this hotel for the pool/snooker area as there’s nothing else close by in walking distance. If I had been aware of this closure I’d of booked elsewhere, very disappointing communication as it was a special birthday celebration and we sat in the room and had to watch tv instead.

A lovely hotel with paved and grassed outdoor areas, a lovely foyer working space and there most welcoming friendly and helpful staff. Note that the car parking is chargeable at £4 for 24 hours

The hotel itself was lovely but the room was far too hot. It was November and i ended up having to sleep with the windows open and a fan on! I contacted reception to ask how to turn off the heating and was told to turn thr thermostat on the radiator off, the radiator wasn't even on! It was like hot air was being blown into the room and there was no way to turn it off. Couldn't sleep and was left feeling unwell because of the heat

Great stay

We have stayed on many occasions and have always been greeted by polite staff and an easy check in. Every time we stayed the rooms and bathrooms were very clean apart from once where the bathroom smelt of weed. I will be returning.

The room was so hot that I could not sleep and had to walk outside the hotel to cool down. The shower was narrow and wet the bathroom floor. The phone never worked in the room. There were limited (2) electrical outlets. Maid service was limited. These issues were raised multiple times with the staff and the manager and I got the feeling that they tried to fix the issues, but the heating was a design flaw in the [obviously] old heating system. Most of the 3rd floor occupants had the same issues. I will not stay here again and will not recommend it to anyone. Finally, the PAID parking spaces were narrow and there were hardly enough of them!

The stay as a whole was excellent, the high point being the food which was delicious. The room decor was dated with lots of dark wood panelling. The staff were really friendly and very helpful!
