Tranquility and Outstanding Service
This was our second visit to Slovenia, but our first stay at Hotel Kendov Dvorec. As you can expect from any Relais Chateaux association hotel, the service, friendliness, and overall experience of Kendov Dvorec was phenomenal. Helena, Gregor, Mateus, and the rest of the staff were so so kind and welcoming; we genuinely felt that we were guests in the home of the bests hosts ever. One evening before dinner, Gregor built us a fire so we could sit in front playing card games while sipping wine made by the hotel owner and enjoying a local charcuterie. Dinner was amazing - I highly recommend letting Gregor choose the wine pairings for you! Breakfast was a beautiful spread of local meats, cheeses, fruit juices, pastries and cereals, and the best assortment of local honey and jams. They also prepared delicious eggs and bacon. The hotel itself is a beautifully renovated mansion, with elegant antique furnishings, set on a hill overlooking a church. We visited in winter, which was lovely, but I can imagine the grounds and garden are spectacular in the summer. Idrija is a quiet little town, and a great base to explore the rest of Slovenia, as it's just a short drive to the Postojna and Skocjan caves, Predjama castle, the beach town of Piran, and the capital of Ljubljana. While in town, I recommend visiting the local mercury mine to get a sense of the history of Idrija. I highly recommend Hotel Kendov Dvorec and hope to make it back again someday.

İt is an old manor/inn that has been renovated. Rooms on the top floor therre was no elevator I dont know how they handle people with disabilities. The bed was too soft and bouncy for my taste. There was a bath but no shower curtain. İt was difficult to take a shower. The gardens are very pretty.

Amazing! worths every cent
We had our last two nights in Slovenia, after a 10 day trip, in an amazing hotel which was once a house and they were the best two nights throughout the whole trip. The ambience is of a cozy slovenian home. The staff and the service are wonderful, the food is very tasty. New and comfy amenities. The only thing that wasn't as great is the bed

A hotel I would back to over and over again!
This was the perfect small luxury hotel experience. The hotel was so beautiful, the gardens were all in bloom and the whole ambience was just incredibly charming. The staff was unlike any we have encountered. Warm, friendly, helpful and fun! You felt like you were staying in a friend’s beautiful home and being treated like royalty. Cannot wait to return!

Great chateau & relais. We enjoyed the family feel, great staff and guests. Nice view of the Idrija church. Pleasant garden, outdoor patio and restaurant. The rooms are probably a decent size for when the hotel was built (1377) but definitely small by today's standards.

A hidden gem
This is a wonderful Slovenian chateau complete with the finest restaurant we experienced during our vacation. The public rooms are filled with lovely furnishings making a comfortable setting. The guest rooms are generously sized and well appointed – for those not used to taking a shower in a tub without a curtain - beware. All the staff were welcoming and helpful.

Un albergo caratteristico, con uno stile tradizionale, molto carino. Tutti i dettagli sono ricercati. Sembra di stare in un museo. Ti coccolano con i biscotti e le lettere di cortesia di benvenuto e di buona notte. La colazione è buona, con il prosciutto fresco, salame tipico e il miele del posto. Forse l'unica pecca è che nella doccia mancava la tendina o il vetro e mentre fai la doccia l'acqua va dappertutto.

Endroit magnifique (relais et château) à un prix abordable Cadre exceptionnel mais pas toujours facile d’accès du fait de travaux routier.... restaurant dans le jardin avec un dîner animé par un trio à cordes!!!! Idrija hatten wir als Zwischenhalt auf der Fahrt von den Julischen Alpen ans Meer ausgewählt, da die Gegend einige interessante Besichtigungs-Möglichkeiten bietet (Schloss Gewerkenegg, Antonius-Stollen). Das in einem ehemaligen Herrschaftshaus eingerichtete 5*-Hotel ist fast zu schön für nur eine Nacht. Inbesondere das Abendessen - ausschliesslich regionale Speisen begleitet von passenden Weinen - war ein Gedicht.

Wonderful for a romantic stay
From the welcoming reception to the beautiful, stylish room and the wonderful dinner, we absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The rooms are furnished with antique and have plenty of windows with nice flowers and nice views. The bathtub filled quickly with water of the right temperature. The hotel has a nice terrace with beautiful views of the hotel, garden and other surroundings. Both dinner and breakfast are served here, weather permitting. Dinner consisted of local dished with accompanying Slovenian wines and provided good value for money.
