"We stayed in the Victoria suite, which was lovingly and thoughtfully restored from a former bank building. The wallpaper and furnishings and decor were quite impressive, as was the clawfoot bathtub in one of the bathrooms. Parking was available in the driveway right next to the suite. There was air conditioning that could be adjusted, and plenty of towels. A sink with provision to make coffee in the morning – would’ve been nice to have some glasses rather than just cups, but overall the place was lovely. There was a loveseat and several chairs in the living room, and the beds were made up beautifully and were very comfortable.
There are glowworm caves at the back of the property, but we were slightly discouraged from going to see them by the gal who checked us in, so you might want to ask a few more questions. There is a glowworm wall just before you arrive in town on the left-hand side of the road, which is signed.
You can have dinner or breakfast there – we chose to go into town which is about a 15 to 20 minute drive. It’s about 45 minutes plus to Hokitaka Gorge.
Lovely place – I highly recommend it!"
