Jaffna itself was nice and we met many lovely people. We were quite dismayed, however, at the number of emaciated, sick and extremely nervous dogs on the streets. This belied our experiences in other parts of SL where street dogs have been cared for.
Jaffna is a great place to visit lots to see and do. The local people are not yet used to visitors but well worth taking the train from Colombo to explore Jaffna.
Jaffna is not a tourist destination and it feels very different from the more touristy south. We spent a day exploring the remote island of Delft which was amazing and took a Tuk Tuk ride along the scenic northern coast roads.
