Explore a National Trust-listed village in Kangaroo Valley, a picturesque town flanked by the awe-inspiring Cambewarra and Barrengarry mountains. Rainforests and rugged peaks surround this gorgeous corner of the Illawarra region’s rolling countryside, making it a scenic spot to enjoy local wines and delicious regional produce.

Stroll through Kangaroo Valley’s unhurried streets and explore the village’s interesting arts and crafts shops, antique stores, galleries and cafés. Check out historic landmarks that were constructed in the 19th century out of locally quarried stone, including the school, the courthouse and the iconic Hampden Bridge, one of Australia’s oldest suspension bridges.

Learn about the village’s rich dairying history at the Kangaroo Valley Pioneer Museum Park, a heritage complex that includes an early settler hut, antique farming equipment and pretty bushwalking trails.

Explore Kangaroo Valley’s magnificent landscapes with a trip to Gerrigong Falls or Cambewarra Mountain. Canoe along the Kangaroo River or play golf at the picturesque Kangaroo Valley Golf & Country Resort. Visit in February to experience a sampling of local rural life at the Kangaroo Valley Agricultural and Horticultural Show. In October, the village stages the Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival, which features a range of local and touring musicians over a fun-filled weekend. The Kangaroo Valley Village Markets offer a selection of the region’s finest produce and craft items on the second Saturday of the month, except in February.
