Cold and run down

Do not stay here. To summarize, the place is in a run down area and the place itself is run down as well. The sheets and towels are stained, paint peeling in the rooms, and very cold in all common areas. It took several hours to warm up my room and the staff is cold as well. It is important for a business to make money, but charging 170 rupees for a small second cup of instant coffee at breakfast was gouging to the extreme. 700 rupees (hotel gets half) to the airport (4 kilometers away) was ridiculously high as well. Lastly, no rubbish bin, no robes and slippers as promised in the booking confirmation.

Nice but quite far from center

Well overall it was a decent and comfortable hotel, however the dinner we order on the first day of arrival was not that good and slightly overprice. However the breakfast are normal continental and good.

Very old place

Facility is very old. Very rusty, untidy water leaking bathroom. Terrible food from the restaurant. There’s a worm on the food served. No action has been taken even if I showed it. No apology even. Facility is overdue for a good renovation. Not recommended this place

An A+ safe, quiet, customer-attentive bargain!

For anyone looking for a safe, gated, well-maintained, quiet, convenient, close-to-the-airport, customer-attentive, and affordable place, I have to recommend the Alliance Hotel. I was in Kathmandu for close to a month this past May. Originally, I booked just a handful of days to make sure that the Alliance was everything I expected. Well, it was. And, I reserved myself a room at the Alliance for the rest of my non-trek time in Kathmandu, The staff is courteous and very helpful. They were able to get me good deals on taxis, a flight to Mt. Everest, and a flight to Pokhara. Every morning, there was a wonderful breakfast with the basics just like you like them. Plus, there’s cable TV in every room and Wi-Fi on every floor. If you want a bite to eat or a beer to drink, their restaurant can prepare it quickly. If you’re looking for something on the scale of a Hyatt Regency, this is not your place. The Alliance is simple, yet perfect for the traveler who’s looking for a comfortable place to sleep. For value, there’s not a better deal in Kathmandu.

A 10 minute walk from the stupa, it makes you feel you are away from the touristic area. Pleasant garden. Great staff, all very helpful. Good breakfast. Amazing for the price. The room could have been cleaner.

Kind and helpful super comfy great value

The bed was so confortable. The staff was amazing kind and helpful. WiFi was great. They even packed us a breakfast to take with us since our flight was so early before the kitchen opened up. We loved staying here. Would go again.

A decent stay with basic needs met, kind staff

The 24 hr staff was very kind and accomodating. They even let us keep our bags there safely for free for a few days while we trekked. Rooms were standard for the price range as far as Nepal goes - not “perfect” but good enough. A basic breakfast is included in the price, which is always a plus. Wifi came and went depending on where in the hotel we were. We liked the location next to a temple and a few blocks from the main street and 15 min walk from Boudhanath Stupa. It was usually very quiet. The one unfortunate moment was that when we came back from trekking and spent another night here, the price was twice as much. We hadn’t been warned of this at all, and were told that the “pricing changes.” That, for me, was not a good way to send us off as guests.

Oasis in hectic Kathmandu

Great location and quiet place near by Boudha nath Stupa. Very friendly and courteous staffs. Rooms were newly renovated and beds were very comfortable with hot water. The breakfast was amazing. Lovely garden with seasonable flowers and fruits. The staff especially Surya helped us for guiding city tours.We highly recommended this hotel in busy Kathmandu.
