Lovely comfy stay

Lovely hotel in a small town. We received a warm welcom, the room was big and comfy, the breakfast was great. The biergarten opposite does amazing food, very happy and would love to be back!

The beds were comfortable and the lady who checked us in was helpful and polite enough. However, we could not check in until 4pm and were not offered earlier despite us having driven for several hours. This was disappointing especially as that hotel was not busy. This meant that we had to wander around the village for an hour and a half before we could get into our room. Most hotels will allow earlier check in. The breakfast was really quite disappointing.

Hôtel bien situé à 10 mn en voiture du pont de l'Europe qui, franchissant le Rhin, conduit à Strasbourg; places de parking réservées devant l'hôtel : bien placé au centre d'un bourg coquet face à un café traditionnel allemand avec Biergarten (jardín-terrasse). Accueil agréable en allemand ou avec quelques rudiments d'anglais. Petit-déjeuner servi dès 6h30 mais terminé à 9h. Ceci étant, l'ayant oublie et étant descendu à 9h30, on me l'a quand même servi. Chambre avec selle de bain simples mais spacieuses et lumineuses.

Kehl stopover

This was a one night stop en route to Basel. It was easy to find in a quite area just outside Kehl. The owner was friendly and he directed us to the local tennis club for an evening meal to which we could walk. This was good value. Breakfast was also very good and started from 6am if you wanted to leave early. The only minus was that our room had no air conditioning and it was a +30c day so it was hot night.

Hotel tout à fait correct mais très excentré.

Accueil sympathique, le gérant vous accompagne jusqu'à la chambre (il vaut mieux parce que l'on s'y perd un peu). Chambre simple mais spacieuse, salle de bain ok. Petit déjeuner allemand classique (pain, charcuterie, fromages) mais avec également des confitures, miel, mueslis, fruits etc... Service très sympathique. Juste le pain n'était franchement pas top.

Good value for money...excellent location

The location's proximity to both Strasbourg (F) and Offenburg (DE) is excellent. It affords a clean, no-nonsense approach for a few days or one night's accommodation. There isn't much in the way of choice for restaurants, but, only steps away is the town's wonderful Ochsen restaurant with a lovely menu, very affordable, and good to great service. The parking spaces are fine except when large vehicles, vans, caravans, etc seem intent on taking 4-5 spaces each. During our stay, there were three such behemoths making finding an open space a real challenge (we found the only one available). The WiFi is excellent, the breakfast is good by German standards, but a bit parsimonious as the rolls, eggs, and such seemed to be allotted with strict attention to the number of guests. The access to the rooms is odd, inasmuch there is no lift, and the stairs are not easy to navigate with two spirals of many steps if you take the rear entrance (easier than through the lobby if you are lugging heavy or much suitcases), but not so much fun when you have to deal with time-delayed loss of lighting and managing to get around the spiral unforgiving steps. If you choose to go through the lobby, be prepared to have to mount a staircase that is so steep with respect to the risers, it is more like a ladder than a staircase. However, the value for money, and the cleanliness makes this place a real winner for the location's position. A short 20 minute drive takes you to more dining.
