"This was a fun night out in the middle of nowhere. A great location to stargaze or catch the northern lights if it's clear! The camper was in perfect shape, a big deck out front with lots of room for sitting outside. They are building things in the campground, it would be cool to see hot tubs go in!"

"The Hekla Cabins are three, wonderful little cabins just off one of the main roads through the area. The cabin comfortably fit two, but there's a pullout couch (at least in Cabin One) for an additional sleeper. "Not sure what all the bad reviews are about, but this place is pretty sweet. Well kept, beautiful place. Our rooms (101 102) were stunning. They have that log cabin feel. The bathroom was a bit smelly, but I think that’s because of the sulfer in the water. I put a wet cloth over the drain, and it was fine. Fantastic “common area” and the amenities were great. "The first to say is that Midgard Base Camp does not feel like the stereotypical hostel that one imagines. This starts with the lobby area that has a fun and cozy setup and the restaurant and bar area. Also, the room options are more than just a shared room with bunk beds and community bathrooms. Those do exist but we stayed in a private family room with a private bathroom. There is a hot tub and sauna that we also used. Gina, the hostess, is very fun and provided us with good information. The location fit our needs for our tour of the South of Iceland. There isn’t much else around this area to stay and Midgard offered a good option and is also close to various food options. We would definitely return. "
