"The Royal Kelowna was nice, but not great. It has a strong location and the rooms were tidy, but overall the hotel felt like a property that used to be excellent and has slowly stopped trying as hard.
The lobby is not very grand, and there were small things throughout the property, like parts of the elevators, that seemed worn down or in need of attention. The maintenance staff were great, and the rooms themselves were clean, but the overall management and guest experience felt a bit tired.
The front desk experience was odd. The staff did not seem especially interested in guests or in making the stay feel smooth. We had an issue where the showers in our room were not working properly. After spending an evening in the room, we were told it was “impossible to fix” and were offered another room. We packed everything up and moved from a Premium Suite to a regular suite, which was not the end of the world, but the front desk staff were unable to process any sort of refund or adjustment. I was told I would have to come speak to someone at the front desk about it later. They saw me walk past several times after that but never followed up or mentioned it.
The in-room amenities also felt cheap for the type of property: basic shampoo and conditioner, and a poor-quality hair dryer. It gave the impression that costs had been cut in places guests would definitely notice. Overall, it is an odd hotel in a great part of Kelowna."
