Hotel Seward

8/10 Good

"Historic hotel with some well-worn areas. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Location is very convenient to restaurants and shops in downtown Seward. We walked to every meal. 15 minute drive to Exit Glacier visitor center and a 5 minute drive to the boat launch area for day cruises. It worked well for us. The only downside was that the room was a little stuffy. No A/C or fan and even though it was cool outside, the windows only opened a little bit and the air didn’t really make it into the room."

"This quaint family-owned motel reminded me of the motels we stayed in in Florida pre- Disneyworld. The owner gave us the room that had been his father’s favorite because it felt like being in a bird’s nest, so we had an incredible view of the Kachemak Bay and Mountains. The room was clean, the bed comfy, the hot water and water pressure abundant, and the amenities included a fridge, microwave, coffeepot and coffee – everything I need in a room. The only downside was that of the 9 places we have stayed in during our Alaska vacation, this was the only one that didn’t have blackout curtains. Instead, it had plastic mini-blinds like those popular in the 80s. So with 3 windows and a patio door in the land of the midnight sun, sleeping was a challenge, even with eye masks."
