"3 rooms booked for out of town guests at a funeral. I was 40000 ft in the air flying at the time the guests started to arrive. Guest were told there is only 1 room booked. Guest had to spend their own funds and book room to stay. Shameful. I appologized to guests once I landed and found out. I ran to IHG cochin and found 3 rooms booked. Front desk was very ignorant how things work. Very rude but called me Sir a thousand times. Unappologetic. I use IHG so thought it would be fine. But for IHG Cochin never again."
"Free shuttle to international airport. Good service for a 3 minute drive. Mediocre service. Restaurant wait staff poor. Restaurant A/c not working properly for three days , two nights I was there. Room A/c fan ran all the time-Loudly. Off or cold were the two temperatures. Noisy. NOTE ROOMS ARE NOT SOUNDPROOFED AS ADVERTISED. Generous but unnecessary built in cupboard doors bang in the room and surrounding rooms waking middle of the night and early morning as people leave for airport. Limited western food. Included breakfast mediocre—4
Raw or hard cooked poached eggs only—cook did it know better. And, in India mind you, they could not figure out how to bring a teapot of boiling, not tepid water with a creamer, small jug of cold milk for me and my decaf teabag. Buffet food over cooked and mediocre taste. Morning f pastries cold and old or previously frozen. Huge toaster that either burned toast or only cooked one side. Marriot needs to try harder here and give staff better training or fire the management."
"We had three rooms booked for a party of 6. The bathroom in one of the room was smelly and remained so even after the staff did some cleaning there.
Most of the towels had a mildewy smell. I'd say about half the towels. Finally, the drain in the shower does not keep up with the tap. As you shower the soapy water starts to pool at your feet. Post shower you need to quickly wash your feet again. When I complained about this, they sent an electrician to fix it who said that is just how the plumbing works.
Each of those issues costs a start in the review. The staff is courteous and tries to be helpful. They are likely operating within constraints that they have no control over.
All in all, it was an experience I would not want to repeat.
... oh.. one more thing: the pillows are massive - not sure who can sleep with their neck at the angle that imposes on your neck. They do bring a standard and sensibly sized pillow if you ask.
The overall experience was far worse than would be expected at the prices the hotel charges. And I can't account for gap between my experience and what the ratings say. My guess is that the locals have different tastes and expectations. My living and traveling has mostly been in North America and Europe. "
"Rooms were kept clean. Staff was amazing. Excellent grounds which are well maintained. Overall, my first visit to Kochi was made more pleasant by the great hospitality. Food was awesome. Breakfast and dinner had all types of food, North Indian, South Indian, Continental, Southeast asian, etc. Desserts variety was also very good. I am sure when I visit Kochi again, Le Meridien is my place
