The staff is very friendly. Good location and distance to food. My only complaint is that the bed is very uncomfortable and after climbing 500 steps at La Fortuna Waterfall a comfy bed is what I needed. One spring poked my niece in her back and had to put a folded towel over it. There is no TV and reception in the room is pretty bad which is not a complaint but a suggestion to fellow travelers if staying here, download some movies to your phone so you can watch at night. Like I said only negative thing was the bed, other than that you cant beat the price or location. Good deal!

No frill comforatble cabin

This place is a nice quite reasonably comfortable, no-frills hotel. You are given little cabins in thequite wooded are. There is a pool, but it is fairly cool because of the shadiness of the area. This place is 1.5km outside of La Fortuna, and it was recommended that we do not walk that road at night. There are a couple of small store right next door so you can get some provisions, but you will need to take a taxi or drive into town if you want substantial food. The staff is really nice and friendly, and very willing to call and make tour reservations, restaurant recommendations etc... They do also serve a really nice breakfast.

The cabins are very clean and in a rustic setting . They are very convenient ( by car ) to shopping and restaurants. Just s couple minutes to La Fortuna. Very convenient to Arenal Volcano and hanging bridges . Miguel who owns the place is very helpful on giving you information about the area . Breakfast is 5.00 per person and is very good and served by the pool . Can’t beat the price and the cabins face the Volcano, so amazing views !!!

I liked the cabins ,so cute, rustic . The cabins faced Arenal Volcano , best views ever ! You can drive just a couple minutes to a grocery , shopping and restaurants. Convenient to the volcano park and hanging bridges ( by car) For $5.00 per person, you can have breakfast at the pool . breakfast was great also . Miguel who owns the property is so helpful with giving you all the information needed about the area . Can’t beat the price , nor location!

Beautiful peaceful hotel right on the border of jungles. Different rooms options. Friendly staff. The hot water didn’t last a longtime in the shower, but overall nice room and nice stay.

Hôtel correct service agréable

Miguel l’hôte etait très chaleureux à notre Arrivés. Il nous a beaucoup aidé avec les activités et la planification de notre itinéraire avec de bonnes blagues. La chambre était correct mais la literie etaient sales ( tâcher, sentait l’humidité, avec un insecte mort dans les draps). Les déjeuners étaient bon, Maria était très souriante et agréable. L’hôtel est bien situé en dehors de la ville on s’est rendu à pied au chute et c’était très beau. L’hôtel a aussi une Belle vue sur le volcan

Great cabins near La Fortuna

We loved our stay at Cerro Chato. Miguel and Doña Maria were fantastic. Breakfast was delicious. We slept so well in our cabin and loved the privacy. The beautiful property is shaded by tall trees and has a small pool, great for relaxing and staying cool after a hike to Arenal Volcano. The wi-fi worked great. It was a five minute drive to town where there are many good restaurants.

Cerro Chato Lodge - Best of Both Worlds

Perfect location if you have a car or like to walk. 15 minute walk to “upper La Fortuna” which has all major services (super market, restaurants, tour operators, souvenir shops, etc.) and a 30 to 45 minute walk to the Catarata La Fortuna. The Lodge itself was perfect for our stay and the $5 usd breakfast was delicious! Lastly, Miguel was a huge help and provided great recommendations and assisted us with arranging transportation. Go ahead and book your stay! You will not regret it :)

Downside: beds are small for two people, rooms only have one outlet, services are scant. Upside: the owner is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable!

Hôtel bien situé, au calme dans un jardin.

Bungalows de bon confort, bien situés à proximité de la ville (restaurants, bars et supérette accessibles à pied en 10 minutes) et des centres d'intérêt (volcan Arenal, sources chaudes, ...). Question confort, juste un petit bémol sur la taille des draps (petits pour la literie ... par ailleurs pas excellente). Un commentaire sur les lieux à visiter dans la région : le prix demandé pour découvrir la cascade (15 dollars par personne) n'est pas du tout justifié.

Simples demais. Sem wifi no quarto. Não recomendo.

Positivo: preço OK, localização OK, equipe OK, quarto limpo, toalha limpa, roupa de cama limpa. Negativo: é, basicamente, só pra dormir mesmo. Não tem wifi no quarto, a água quente do chuveiro acabou, não tem geladeirinha. Não tem nada pra comer (fora o café da manhã)... nem um cafezinho!

Once is enough

The space is amazing, tucked away in a part of the jungle not too far from town. The room was quite small, not cleaned on a regular badis. The staff were friendly at first, but then my wife asked the manager for a hairdryer and he told her that it was an eco-hotel and if she wanted one she would have to go buy one for herself. We also asked for an extra towel since it was rainy, super-damp & wet - and we were told that there were none.
