"This place is so private and cozy, the staff is amazing and nice. We really enjoyed our stay and will highly recommend if you want something different than a regular hotel."
"El lugar es super comodo, con de todo un poquito cafe, aceite, azucar esas cosas para facilitar las cosas, la lavadora para escurrir los vestidos de baño, un éxito rotundo y bueno la piscina super linda."
"Nice property. Very well situated and quiet. Was pretty clean. Space to park car if you rent one.
A toaster would have been a great option to have! Host was very responsive. Would stay again at this property"
"My partner and I booked this property however when we arrived at 7pm, there was a large gate blocking the entrance and no one was there. We tried and tried to call and message the property and never received a response. La Fortuna is somewhat out in the country without many on the spot lodging options. It took us until 945 pm before we were able to get a far from desirable accommodations. We were preparing to sleep in our car by that time. We have yet to receive a refund or response. There...

"I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Tangara Arenal. I booked the bungalow option, and it was a great choice. The bungalow was surrounded by plants and trees, with outdoor seating perfect for relaxing or reading while it rained—and when it rains, it pours! The metal roof made the sound of the rain noticeable, but I found it soothing, like white noise.
We visited during the wet season and had the usual afternoon showers, but it never bothered us. The room was spacious, with a smart TV, mini fridge, and work area. Even with another bungalow nearby, we barely saw or heard anyone.
The hotel is easy to find on the main road to town. You’ll need a car or taxi to get around, but since we had a car, it was simple. Breakfast was included and served plated at the on-site restaurant—we ate there daily and also enjoyed dinner one evening. The food was tasty. The location felt safe and quiet, with a police station just a short distance away.
The only area for improvement is the shower. The handheld showerhead didn’t have a holder, and there wasn’t space to set toiletries. Adding a mount and some shelving would make it more comfortable.
Overall, this hotel offers great value, a peaceful atmosphere, and convenient access to activities. I’d definitely recommend it."
"Exceptional and breathtaking are the best words to describe this property! The staff here were so friendly and very accommodating to our needs. Karla works the front desk and was so helpful and Luis is the best driver, tour guide and photographer we could ask for! 10/10 would recommend this place to everyone!"
"The perspective of Vulcan Arenal was perfect from this perfectly situated property. Great food ranging from Costa Rican to international, available throughout the day.
I preferred their salt water pool to staying at a different resort which featured thermal pools- then we chose to drive back to eat here once more- so good. Just know in advance that you may not drive to your room; must take a jitney."
