"We loved this campsite! Staff were welcoming and friendly, bungalow was clean and spacious with lovely views from the balcony. "This was definitely a game of two halves. So the hotel is an ugly concrete bunker from outside but inside it is beautifully decorated and modern.The room and bed were large and comfy but sparsely furnished and the windows were tiny so the rooms are quite dark. Soundproofing is non existent. Despite being a couple of rooms away from the lifts you could hear them whining and screeching all day and night. The only way to drown out the noise was to have the loud air conditioning on in the room The pool area is a definite highlight, large and warm pool and lots of sunbed areas. The indoor pool and gym looked nice as well. The food in the restaurant was pretty good. Breakfast was also good,nicely presented with a wide choice. With the exception of a couple of standout staff members (the main waitress with glasses in the restaurant was incredibly friendly and helpful and efficient), the service was incredibly poor at times. Either there was no staff in the bar and you had to seek them out or there were four all talking together and avoiding eye contact. Spacious parking was available inside and outside. Lamego is walking distance,about 15 minutes, mostly flat. Unfortunately Lamego is not a pretty town to stay in,full of ugly concrete apartment blocks and run down older buildings. The sanctuary was definitely worth a visit but I wish we'd just done a day visit instead of staying overnight in Lamego."

"Everything was amazing. Staff was cooperative. View was fantastic. Rooms were clean. Restaurant was great. Very nice food. Only one draw back was Expedia did not mentioned in room description that there were 80 + steps to climb to go to family rooms. But staff helped us go up and down in golf cart which they said they do not do normally. I would come again for view and great service they provided. My therapeutical massage was cherry on top. Overall great experience. Relaxed and enjoyed this property."

"What a gorgeous property. Spa options are amazing. The wine and port tasting was top-notch. With only one night, we really did not get to experience all of it. I would recommend at least two. Coming in September or October during the winemaking season would be fantastic. The staff was extremely polite and knowledgeable and helpful"

"Staff were fabulous, special thanks to Ana, Bruno and Rita. Hotel was nice but tired, needs some TLC. Hotel is good for 2 nights, as dinner menu only changes every other day. Breakfast was satisfactory. As the accommodation was listed as a “wine hotel” we were expecting wine tastings and a sommelier."

"The staff here, aside from the lovely man in the dining room for breakfast , were minimalist at best. The front desk staff were well below par. The hotel is pretty basic and the town itself doesn’t have a lot to offer - look elsewhere for a Douro experience unless you want to see the church stairs."
