Walk along this romantic pier to see the array of vessels and go on a trip to the famous dive spot of Zenobia’s Wreck.
Beyond the rows of palm trees and charming cafés that decorate the Finikoudes area lie the impressive yachts of Larnaca Marina. At full capacity, the marina is home to 450 boats of varying styles and sizes. Visit this harbour as a gateway to Zenobia’s Wreck, an unusual scuba diving site centred on a sunken ship that capsized in 1979.
Book tickets from one of many operators in the marina for a 15-minute glass-bottom boat trip to Zenobia’s Wreck. Enjoy the views of the fish and other treasures beneath the vessel’s window. When you arrive at the site, learn about what happened to the MS Zenobia. All of the passengers and crew were evacuated from the ship and survived the accident, but the vessel has been left on its side on the sea floor for decades.
Dive with a guide to get a closer look at the enormous ship, which has a length of 584 feet (178 metres). Experienced divers can swim into the former cafeteria and see the eerie way that the vessel has deteriorated over the years.
Back in the marina, dine at one of the many restaurants serving local specialties, such as calamari, sea bass and octopus. Take an after-dinner stroll in the port to investigate the range of boats.
Nearby Finikoudes Beach has volleyball areas and clear water for swimming. Take a break at a café and watch as local residents and fellow visitors go by. Sit on a rock at the port and watch the sun drop below the horizon. Capture photos of the yachts with a scenic backdrop featuring the changing hues of the sky. Beach markets held here sell everything from food and drinks to toys and souvenirs.
Larnaca Marina is positioned in the centre of the city, just north of the popular promenade at Finikoudes Beach. Use one of the many buses to bring you here from the rest of the city. Nearby attractions include the Armenian Genocide Memorial and Europe Square.
