Hotel was closed following a fire 8 months ago, so our whole experience was terrible 3 elderly ladies forced to drive further into Cornwall on a dark and very wet night trying to find somewhere to stay.

Booked 4/1/20 for one night on Feb.3rd. Arrived at hotel to see a sign on doors that hotel had beef closed since17/09/2019!!! We traveled from Glasgow and arrived at 9.30pm finding ourselves with no bed for night. Called Expedia - chap on phone not very sympathetic that we had nowhere to stay. He said someone would contact us- Still waiting. We had been £25 into account for our trouble from chap on Monday might but TBH I just wanted price I had payed for returned. Have had no correspondence at all from Expedia. Appalled that they could take payment for a hotel that has been closed for over 3 MONTHS!!!! BEEARE you can still book this hotel through Expedia.

When we got to the hotel it was up for auction! So at 6 30 pm we were chasing around for a different hotel . This was very upsetting and caused us anxiety and extra expense

This place was closed when we arrived , it had been closed for up to 10 days due to a fire we were informed ... no not happy with the accommodation We had not been told this so at 20.00 hrs approximately we were desperately looking for a place to stay ... after a long and tiring day

We were visiting Cornwall for a couple of nights and this hotel was perfect for us we even had a meal in the restaurant which was value for money. The staff were friendly and if were visiting Cornwall again we would properly stay here again

Seen better days
Hotel is very run down and tired. Bare floor boards on some walk ways. Bathroom has seen better days although the shower was ok. Bed was comfortable and clean but only one light worked in the room and one didn't have a bulb in at all!! Be warned that the hotel is the local hotspot on a Saturday night with loud revelry in the pub with a disco in a side room to the early hours. The free advertised continental breakfast was poor. Everything else costs

Hotel is in a great location with a car park out the back. Had good tea and coffee facilities and a good TV. However, it is in desperate need of an update. The wallpapered walls and ceiling were marked and stained and was peeling off. The bathroom was a good size but had a carpet which is very un-hygienic. The carpet in the good sized bedroom was also stained and just needed a carpet clean. I am amazed that the owners can’t see all of these faults and rectify them. Once decorated the hotel could be very nice.

Staff were very good. Building is old and while this is part of the charm more attention should be made to ensure modern fittings such as bathroom extractor fans and mirror lights actually work. There was a considerable build up of mould in ensuite due to poor ventilation. Location and price were good and I would consider staying again if some effort is made to facilitate required repairs.

Lovely place but not much there so it nice and quite. The hotel is having work done so the car park is a bit tight. The bedroom was nice bright and clean but the bed was as hard has nails and gave me a bad back for the whole time we stayed. It also have a very bad small of rats pee.

Bit of a shambles
Having been shown to our room, on looking around we realised the only furniture was two beds and two bedside cabinets. No wardrobe, no drawers, no chairs, and not even a hook anywhere to hang anything! I went back to reception to ask for another room and was told there were none. I was told the room had recently been redecorated and that the wardrobe must have been overlooked. I asked what they would do, as we needed somewhere to put our clothes. We then went for a drink in the bar while the owner/manager was phoned. In the bar we had to wait ages to be served as there was no one around; when my wife finally got her Malibu and lemonade, it had bits of limescale in it from the pipes of the lemonade pump; so it had to be exchanged. We were then told that the owner/manager could drive in to provide an over door hanger for that night, if we wished, and the wardrobe would be located the following day. My wife suggested that, if they could supply us with a couple of chairs, that would be fine for that night for us to lay our clothes over. That was then done. Then, to the ensuite shower room. This had been redecorated as well, but paper was peeling in places from the ceiling, there was also a hole where a light fitting had been removed, no shelves other than a tiny one over the sink that was hanging off the wall. Nowhere in the shower to put gel, shampoo etc, and no plug in the basin sink! Neither sink plug nor absence of wardrobe were sorted before we left.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here especially on a Saturday night they have a DJ set going on until 2am it was torture there was fighting as well also there was a fire in the kitchen so no hot food he breakfast is very poor indeed they are in the middle of decorating so bare floor boards on the landing

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our stay was very good value for money. The beds were comfortable. The shower was adequate and hot. However the buikding is tired. Upgrading is beginning to happen.

Not a lot to do in the local area. Not a lot of places to eat. Hotel was very old fashioned, needs a massive make over. Parking is very limited, we had to park elsewhere on several occasions. There was a lot of banging around the hotel at night like large objects being moved. Most of the staff were friendly. Food was lovely and great portions.

Two Days in Launceston.
We had to climb three flights of stairs and pass through a hall under construction to get to our room which had peeling wallpaper, stained broadloom and a toilet that didn't flush properly. The shower "enclosure" swing out from the tub and water sprayed all over the broadloom in the bathroom. There was no WiFi access since we were so far away from the main floor. The lighting was two small fixtures and from the ceiling and two over the bed lights. The tray for tea and coffer had not been washed properly and there was a stain on the tray. BUT the food and drink was excellent and the staff more than accommodating. The owners have dropped the ball here.

Very warm welcome from friendly hotel staff. Launceston has a special appeal as this was the first time I've able to return since I was born here in 1942.

OK so firstly to be real .. the value was good, a cllean spacious if tired room with a comphy bed and a bath/shower. Breakfast to be included, but we didn't stay. We ate in the restaurant in house and food was ok as well as the value. Now the issue .. Saturday nights is DJ night .. until 2am. Apparently the hotel directly will not occupy the rooms above the ballroom for obvious reasons ... unless you are attending for the DJ I guess. We were't. 8p.m. and the D.J. checks his rig.... OMG .. 5 minutes later we were packed ... 6 hourd of thrum thrum thrum ... are you serious!!!! Hotel staff were great and offered a full refund (yet to be recieved from Expedia) and said they would never have let us book the room directly. A real shame because otherwise this would be a real value for money gem as the new owners try to get this wonderful old coaching house back on the map. Don't book on a Saturday night unless direct so you can choose your room or happy to be awake dancing with the furnature untill 2am. Expedia the poor ratings from me are your fault not the White Hearts'.

Building is lovely. Some say dated. But it’s nice. Parts of the hotel are currently under refit but didn’t hear any work from our room. Saturday can be loud as they have events. If you have time pop on the bus and see bude. 12a bus. Will be back soon

Nice hotel and have stayed a few times now. Only down side was how loud Saturday night was. Was unable o get sleep untill they closed the party @ 2am. Staff are amazing as always. From the look of the one hall way they are haveing a refit (and looks good). Will return very soon. I didn’t eat any of the food but looks amazing and over heard a few people saying the food is nice. Due to the age of the building it would not be easy to fit aircon In the rooms so if there is one thing I wish the hotel would do is fit fans. Maybe ceiling fans To stop anyone walking away with them?

The property is a very old coaching inn .There is refurbishment being carried out. Breakfast was great and the service at the bar was odd (who serves a Gin & Tonic in a water glass tumbler) Our room was very clean but did not have a shower only a bath. as the building is very old there is much up and down stairs and steps to get to your room with little in the way of handrails. Our first meal was a bit of a disaster Garlic bread to hard to eat the mixed grill the meat was very dry (over Done) the drinks were very reasonable priced . As hotel there are good and bad but over all we enjoyed our short stay and will stay again when in Launceston

Cheap, dirty and dated
The biggest issue with this hotel is the fact that it is extremely dated and not been looked after at all well and this shows in every nook and cranny. The bathroom was in a word disgusting. I have never seen such awful mould and mildew in a shower cubicle as I did in the White Hart. I felt more dirty after having a shower than I did before! A massive part of me wanted to pop out and buy some bleach to clean it myself before. Clearly the room had been given a ‘once over’ quick clean but the upkeep of the room, in particular the bathroom, was extremely poor. The carpet had clumps of stains and dirt. The wallpaper was chipped and had spots of mildew. The bed was so uncomfortable that my partner and I clocked we had just between 4-5 hours sleep. However there were some good points I feel should be mentioned: 1. Staff were very polite and friendly 2. Bedding and towels were very clean 3. Breakfast was tasty and filling 4. The car park has spaces and the back entrance was open until 10pm and guests are provided with a code when it is locked 5. WiFi was good I wouldn’t stay here again and would recommend those on a budget are better off choosing somewhere slightly more expensive purely on the comfortable and ability to sleep value. That being said, our trip to Cornwall was enjoyable. I cannot fathom how the White Hart has been awarded 3 stars - definitely not deserved in terms of cleanliness but if the 3 stars is on the service, then I would agree with this rating.

An old property with tired facilities ,parts of this hotel are being brought up to a modern standard's this is compensated by the staff who are friendly and try to help in any way they can, I would stay again, you could not get a better location in the centre of town, the food was of a high standard and plenty of it, English breakfast to die for...
