The Falls Of Dochart Inn

4/10 Poor

"Well well, booked this hotel as I was at a wedding in Kenmore and had advised them that my check in would be after 10pm, told that this was fine. Turned up at 2215 to find the hotel in darkness and no-one about, some other guests advised that everyone had gone home and there was noone on reception. Anyhow got into the hotel and found an open room door, got in and went to sleep in room 5. Got up at 0830 and went down for breakfast to be told that I should of stayed in room 2 and they had sent me an email.... Ordered breakfast and unvbeknown to us the breakfast area was a cafe attached to the hotel. A bus load of American tourists trapped in and disturbed the peace and quiet, the young man that served breakfast seemed a bit put out when we asked for coffee and orange juice... Breakfast arrived, it was ok, we ate it and then left. The experience was just about ok but certainly not worth £150 for a night. I am Scottish and the hotel is situated in a cracking spot but come on Scotland we can and must go better, customer service costs nothing.. please and thank you. 👍"

"Have eaten here before and food always lovely and nice atmosphere in bar, garden outside also great for a drink. This was our first stay and it didn’t disappoint - room was lovely and they really have thought of everything- the mini kitchen was so handy even for one night. Little breakfast bar for eating at. Dog throw, treats and bowls. Loved it!"

Station House - Room Only

"The Station House was in many ways ideal. The room was roomy and well furnished, the access to the extra communal room where we could sit and make tea and coffee and keep fresh milk and food in a fridge was excellent. Two small things let it down. The reception was across the road in the associated hotel. Once in the hotel the notice said the reception was upstairs but there was no obvious reception desk up there. I looked around and went in to the bar and no one was behind the bar. It turned out that the receptionist was the person sitting at a table while working on a computer. The other minor problem was with the stairs. We are both in our late seventies and, although we managed the main flight of stairs thanks to the hand rail, my wife found the final short flight of steps up to room 4 was a challenge as there was no hand rail."
