The hotel was refinishing the floors in the lobby. They didn't alert the guests and took both the guest elevator AND the stairs out of service, funneling guests through a single service elevator. Besides being dangerous for emergency exits, it created a long backup for the lone service elevator at the busy checkout time in the morning.
I also caution on having a room on the 5th floor. The rooms are tiny and there is no place to even unpack a suitcase - no dresser, no drawers, etc. The bathroom had a pedestal sink and no shelf or space for toiletries.
Our room was ready early and checkin went very easily. There was some confusion as to whether breakfast of some type was included, coffee is available but not food. The elevator was quick and quiet to our room. It was a large room with a king size bed and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower.
A glove from a previous occupant was left in the armchair. So I’m not sure how meticulous the service between stays is. A larger issue for us was that the fitness center was closed. There was an offer of using Dartmouth’s gym which was down the street. Unfortunately one of us is post knee surgery and the walk down the street was not useful. This was a disappointment. Two smaller issues were that while bar soap was provided for the shower, there was no place to put it in the shower. We wedged it between the shampoo and conditioner and then it would squeeze out and land on the shower floor. Not terrible but not safe for showering. The other small issue is that there was no way to read the ingredients in the Nespresso pods and as a person with dairy allergies, I was hesitant about using the in room coffee. I went downstairs and got coffee on the first floor.
The bed was very comfortable and the tv was large and easy to use. Our room fronted on Main Street and there was no noise at all from the street, just great. The people working the front desk and the car valets were very personable and helpful. The people made our stay a good one while sorry the fitness center was closed.
we had a great time,,and loved it, so close to the college, People were super friendly. Word of caution, do the Valet! dont park on the street, they will ticket you. Def comingback!
The property is lovely. While the Inn has nothing it can do about this, be aware that as of March 2024 there is construction noise from a site nearby that began at 8am. If sensitive about that, consider asking for a room away from that side.
