A lovely old property although I wouldn’t call it 4 star as there are bits and pieces around the room that need attending to such as old carpet, peeling lino on the bathroom floor and a shower head that misses your body in the shower and hits the shower wall despite trying to adjust it. Traffic could be noisy outside the window and as there are traffic lights there, if someone is playing loud music or has a barking dog (which was he case for us) it’s quite intrusive while that car is waiting for quite some time at the lights. A room at the back may be better. Regardless, we would stay again due to price, friendly & helpful staff and a decent breakfast.

Quirky old house. Low ceilings in the old part of the house so tell when booking if you are tall. Food was fabulous and staff were lovely. Would stay again

Helen , it was a pleasure to have you. thank you so much for the wonderful review , we hope to see you again very soonkind regardshelen
This is a great historic 16th century pub/inn and it really shows if you get a room in the old part of the building! not a straight line to be found, low doors, sloping floors, ancient timbers - great !
Landlord very welcoming and informative on the history of the buildng. Veggie breakfast excellent !
Visited with a group of cyclists. The staff were friendly welcoming and helpful. Happy for us to leave our bags in a room whle we explored this lovely old town. Secure cycle parking provided. Comfortable beds in quirky old building. Our floor was very wonky due to the age! Clean. Food plentiful and good breakfast choices. Excellent value and I’d certainly book again if visiting the area.

Thank you for leaving this kind review. We hope to see you soon!
I love old properties and was surprised at the high standard of the bedroom (clean and tastefully furnished), in that the downstairs area were "tired" and needed updating.
Pity there is no on-site parking!

Nothing to complain about which is always good. Staff friendly and helpful. Great town centre location. Easy off site parking for £7 (24hours) a minutes walk away. Room was immaculate. Bathroom small but functional.

We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you soon!
Two night business trip. Knew it would be old inside due to its century of build and steeped in history. Bar service was good but breakfast service was slow and frustrating. Lovely town and setting.
Photos are not of the double rooms. The room was tired, holes in the curtains and mildew in the shower. The en suite was definitely not up to standard. I’d recommend a superior room as the double room was not worth the money
One of the best hotels i have stayed in. From check in to check out it was a very nice experience. Friendly staff comfortable rooms. Great breakfast included
An historic 16th century Inn. Uneven floors and low ceilings just added to the character of the place. Warm and comfortable and very clean. Staff and food both first rate.
The hotel is in a good location. The rooms and en suites were a good size. We were pleased with all the facilities. Breakfast was also very good. The car park (£6/24hrs) was within short ( 1-2 minutes) walking distance via a cut through. We were pleased with our stay with the exception of the evening meal which was very poor. The chipolata sausages for sharing were pale and tasteless. This was made worse as they were submerged in oil soaked breadcrumbs. The chicken was plain but OK but the so called cassoulet on which it sat was very poor. Cassoulet is one of my favourite dishes but this was not really a cassoulet. It had a strange bland taste with very small hard pieces which were certainly not Toulouse sausage. The waiter was the really likeable and although we told him about the food we did not feel we wanted to spoil our evening by detailing just how bad it was.
Warm welcome, management and staff friendly and committed to total guest satisfaction. Only negative was that we found the bed to be very firm. Really enjoyed the Inn‘s pub.

Very old builing as expected . Breackfast lovely frienly service and good choices . Bar sociable. All in all fine...you dont exoect even floors and uo to date mod cons when an hotel has seen a civil war ! Would call again.
Lovely attractive old property. Lack of parking meant we had a choice of paying £6 to park in a car park a few hundred metres from the Inn or do what I did was find free parking on a road no further away. Staff were friendly, food on offer very good and our room spacious and comfortable though not on the ground floor as requested.
Paint coming off walls / mould in shower/lots of noise from bar below well after hours . Had to leave early due to work commitments so couldn’t have hot breakfast no alternative offered by reception For £100 Icharge / night not worth the money if it had been £65 I probably would of been ok with it just expected better for that price charged.
The room was lovely and comfortable, the lunch, dinner and breakfast was lovely and all the staff very friendly and helpful. Will definately recommend.
Great hotel, in very traditional building with modern interiors in some bedrooms, Very helpful and friendly staff, comfortable bed in a large bedroom , breakfast was excellent with locally sourced items and other meals in bar were also excellent, i would stay here again.
Great hotel, lots of character and great food, had both breakfast and dinner.
One word of caution - if you require a taxi, book several days before, could not get one for love nor money. The owner very kndly gave us a lift which really helped.
