Kazan Cathedral, St. Petersburg

Kazan Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox Church built in 1801 - 1811 by architect Andrey Voronikhin. Also known as Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, dedicated to this venerated icon. It was modeled upon the St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican. It is located on the main road of St. Petersburg, the Nevsky Boulevard.
Nothing in St Petersburg is allowed to be built higher than the dome of St Isaac's Cathedral. As a result, you can see it's gleaming gold dome from nearly everywhere in the city. If you're staying at the Four Seasons, Astoria or W hotels then it's a great beacon to help you get back to them!

It is worth getting a guide to explain what you are looking at inside as it's easy to miss so much of the rich history of the building, as you get carried away by the sheer scale of the cathedral. Also worth going up to the dome so you can walk around it on the inside for stunning views across the city.
Este es un verdadero descubrimiento. Camino a Peterhof, vimos esta hermosa iglesia ortodoxa
