it had clean rooms- they are very dark. We were looking for a clean place to stay. This is very dated but worked for us.

Trying hard to do well
The owner and staff worked hard to make us comfortable, but the rooms are just not nice enough for us to go back.
The location is beautiful and I understand why people would like to travel here. However, the property is run down and the accommodations feel cheap. There was very little offered at breakfast - and the checkin/checkout process was confusing. It may be a lack of staff, but I'm not sure I would return here.

No television service despite costing over $150 per night… Week Internet service… Room disappointingly common… Room was not in the mansion but in an out building that was like a motel…
A mansion from another era on beautiful property that needs a lot more work. The accommodations are mostly summer camp like rustic bungalows . There is no typical reception desk and there’s an answering machine that is very amateurish
There’s not much staff per se and they try to be helpful , however this place needs to be taken over by a corporation that has experience and could be a really good resort

We were the only ones on premises when we checked in.
This hotel charges the same rates or similar to other hotels that are newer and more updated. There was no Wi-Fi in the rooms and there was not much comfort. The bed was on wheels and would roll when we would try to read a book leaning our backs against the wall. Also we were in a barrack styled dormitory bedroom set up and the outdoor lights beamed into the room and there were no black out curtains, only old plastic cracked blinds. There were cracked tiles in the bathroom floor. Also the shower only had a shower curtain which was made of cotton and absorbed a lot of water. There was no shower liner so in order to avoid water spilling onto the cracked tile bathroom floor we had to put the curtain inside which became laden with water.
When we checked in we were told that they were various activities of yoga and meditations. We were not here for this. We were here to visit family and spend the days hiking with them and going out to restaurants. If I knew that this was part of the package I would have looked elsewhere and found better comfort. It’s a nice place if that’s what you want but we were not looking for this and I was also disappointed with Hotels.com for having this listed on their site. I felt as though we wasted our two free nights on a three night visit.
While the property has a great potential, it is in a dire state. The cost cutting measures by the property management are obvious and overwhelming - from expired or really old soap to batteries pulled out of heater's remote control to unplugged freeze in the room to terrible breakfast. We even found used dinner plate under our bed. WiFi doesn't work and there is no phone in the rooms. Paint job all across the property is terrible, and rolled up carpets were in the main mansion. Stay away from this place!
This property changed from magic to tragic. Our first visit was excellent two years ago. Beautiful room, robes, and toiletries and a turn down service. The staff was attentive and interested in us being there. Upon arrival, we expected an amazing experience. Instead it was a let down. No robes, no toiletries, and our room had no electricity. All holistic services were booked; this should have been stated online so we would know in advance that theses services weren’t available during our visit. It’s a shame that business owners don’t realize how easy it is to get business, but once you lose a customer you seldom get them back.
This place was such a pleasant surprise! Beautiful property with tons of history and culture. The free daily yoga or tai chi classes are an absolute bonus. The daily breakfast is also great. Loved this place!

The views from the property are outstanding and the main "mansion" is nice. The guest cottages are clean but the beds are terrible. The public areas are run down looking outside the perimeter of the mansion. The swimming pool is beautiful, but the paint is peeling on the bottom.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Cheerful employees. Breakfast was healthful and delicious.

The mansion and the grounds are beautiful. We stayed in ‘the Ranch’, one of the surrounding buildings, and found the rooms to be pretty standard. Unfortunately, the TV did not work, and the hot tub on the premises was out of order as well. This is an old property and could use a bit more TLC. It is in a beautiful setting. Highlights were the indoor pool, the setting, and the breakfast. They offer ‘continental breakfast’ but there are hot entrees to choose from - self serve, buffet style. Overall our stay was good, but we had expected a bit more luxury for the price.
Great location with close proximity to Tanglewood. Grounds are beautiful. This is glamping with basic motel style rooms. There is no Hotel Service for anything less than 3 nights - no bedmaking/linen refresh. No bar/cafe facilities unless you are with a big group. Very safe and reasonable.

It's a retreat, not a hotel. If you're looking for a hotel, you may be disappointed. If you stay in one of the many cottages/cabins throughout the property there will be no TV and no daily maid service. One of the rooms I stayed in required you to run hot water in the basin before taking a hot shower. There is no lunch/dinner service. There is a breakfast buffet at the main house (mansion.).
There is a TV available in the library of the main house/mansion.
However, the grounds are very nice and are appropriate for strolls.
Eastover provides a venue for multi-day courses.
The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a unique experience, and the grounds were fun to explore as there are different buildings and areas for different activities. It is peaceful, and there is natural beauty all around that provides a relaxing atmosphere. I stayed overnight and the room was clean, comfortable, and well kept. I had a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast, thanks again to the staff for a pleasant experience.
The property is not well maintained. It’s beautiful from the outside but when we got there we found out the indoor pool was not available to use for the season. In addition, none of the walkways were salted so ice was everywhere. The complimentary breakfast was horrible. Old fruit and hard boiled eggs were served. We stuck to the cereal and coffee and my boyfriend became sick from the food. The only saving feature was the room itself. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was well heated. Unfortunately, the other factors make it an undesirable place to stay. I understand the place is under new ownership but that does not excuse being served old food and not making the roadways and walkways safe to maneuver for guests staying there. I will opt to stay somewhere else when I return to the area.
