Lido di Camaiore
Lido di Camaiore

Let this picturesque resort on the Amalfi Coast delight you with its beautiful natural scenery, active pursuits and children’s amusements.

With its superb beaches, lush countryside and gorgeous vistas of the Apuan Alps, Lido di Camaiore is a gem on the Italian Riviera. Go on scenic hikes, pursue watersports and entertain any children in your party with a visit to the amusement parks.

Get acquainted with the town with a walk along its wide boulevards and through its public parks.

Stroll by the resort’s 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) of sandy shoreline and let the waves lap over your feet. The beach is ideal for families, with its gentle slope into the sea and lack of sharp rocks or high winds. Take part in a range of sporting activities, including sailing, boating and windsurfing. Enjoy a gentle cruise across the water in a pedal boat.

Go to the Pontile Bellavista Vittoria, a pier with spectacular views of the sea and the town. For refreshments, try the bars and restaurants that line the promenade.

In addition to fun and games on the beach, treat any children with you to a visit to Pitagora Park. The year-round playground and amusement park features a fairground, an adventure playground and a sports area with a soccer field, basketball court and ping pong tables. There are more games and activities for children at the nearby Luna Park.

Venture slightly further afield with a hike or drive through the scenic countryside that flanks the resort. The town also makes a good base for exploring some of Tuscany's most famous calling cards. FlorenceOpens in a new window and its art and iconic architecture are approximately 60 miles (96.5 kilometres) away, while PisaOpens in a new window is 16 miles (25.7 kilometres) to the south.

When you are back in the town, round off your day with an Italian meal made with fresh ingredients in a traditional trattoria.

To get to Lido di Camaiore, fly into Pisa and take a bus north to reach the town. Alternatively, hail a taxi or rent a car. The beautiful resort and its picturesque surroundings are just to the south of Forte dei Marmi and north of the city of Viareggio on the Amalfi Coast.

"Very friendly, helpful staff. Competitive room rates, including a good breakfast. Location is great for exploring and accessing Pisa Centrale. Rooms are dated and facilities, like air-conditioning units, are in need of modernisation. Otherwise, a good stay and value for money."

Great beach area, lots of shops, the only slight negative was the restaurants were very touristy so if you want the real Italy you are better going to Lucca or Florence to experience Italian food. The people are lovely though so friendly
