"It was nice. From the photos it starts with I thought it was closer to ST. Michele. So that was disappointing. You have to make reservations for the dinner area and they were kind enough to let us dine without a reservation."
"Stay was ok. Order our evening meal and time before going to our room. When we arrived to be seated. We were ignored to start with. Our meal time was 7.15pm didn't get served until 7.50pm. Staff were only interested in other guest who hadn't ordered."
"Staying overnight at Mont st Michel was a once in a lifetime experience. I would not advise staying on the island to those who are not able to physically climb a whole lot of stairs, those who are heat intolerant (if the weather forecasts a heatwave) or to those who do not enjoy shuttle buses. Not only are there a lot of stairs to get to the hotel, our hotel had no elevator to our 3rd or 4th floor room. This is typical for much of Europe but would be excessive for someone with any health limitations. Remember to contact the hotel prior to your arrival to obtain an access code that allows you to drive to the check in location off island. It was a beautiful Abbey and island but realize the narrow streets will be packed nearly wall to wall with tourists during the day and the shops are all touristy as there are not many island residents. The evening and morning are quiet and lovely but we did decide to take the shuttle off island for dinner the few on island choices did not appeal to us. The room and bathroom were typical for a three star European hotel. No AC and could not stand in the shower due to angled ceiling. I am 5’4”. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay at Mont St. Michel and had a wonderful time. I only posted some of the concerns because I thought others may want to know when deciding where to stay."
"Room was excellent and would stay here again in a heartbeat. What you probably don't know about Mont St. Michel is that you can't even get to the village where the hotels are at without a GATE CODE...it's very protected from the masses. The hotel will send the GATE CODE a few days prior to your stay via email, so make sure you look that up before pulling your car near the hotel. We had a panic attack at the gate not realizing we needed a code...thank heaven my email worked and it pulled right up. The little village where the hotels are (and Mercure is the best one), gets quiet, but the village has a shuttle that runs on a loop until 11 in the summer...so you can get all the quiet pictures you want after the masses return on their tour busses. This hotel was clean and breakfast was perfect and necessary before grabbing the shuttle (breakfast opened at 6:45am and the first shuttle is at 7:30am). Do your mental health a favor and stay at this hotel if you are visiting "the rock." Book the earliest tour at the Abbey as well so you can see it without all the people...staying here and getting an early tour is the way to go."
"It was a place to lay our heads. Beds were rock hard, no toiletries except liquid soap. We bought the breakfast which was pretty poor. But we were here to see the Abby and it was a great location and the bus stopped right out front."
