Haggerston
Regent's Canal: East London line railway bridge Looking east. This railway was part of the North London line and was foolishly abandoned in the 1970s when anyone with half a brain could have seen that the vastly increased number of motor vehicles in London and elsewhere would lead to more demand for railways, not less. Now the line will reopen soon and will join to the East London line with trains running through to the south of the river and serving such places as Crystal Palace and West Croydon. The officially quoted date for reopening is quoted as June, but my sources have told me it will be earlier than that, possibly 4 April 2010.
