The room was very small and smelled heavily of cleaning product. The fridge was so loud I had to unplug it to sleep. The walls were paper thin and I could hear the crack heads next door arguing all night; something about a stolen 89 dodge. There were wide gaps in the door allowing the cold air outside to leak in. The bed I think was from the 80's and was only slightly more comfortable than my backpacking air pad. The lady at the front desk was very nice though and it was the cheapest motel in town. The TV had hundreds of sports channels, if your into that stuff. The shower worked ok after a bit of a struggle. The heater worked ok for a wall heater. I dreamt that the crackheads next door stole my car and crashed into a Circle K. Nevertheless I love this town and I will be back. Had it not been 23F out I would have camped like usual. For the price of 100$ I cant complain. I was only there to sleep and shower, then away to the mountains. I would likely pay a bit more in the future for a slightly larger and updated room. However, I would stay again if need be. My trip overall was fantastic. I hiked to lone pine lake and met a Russian man who was ice skating on the frozen lake. I video taped him and his husky which had different color eyes. He offered me a chance to borrow his skates but I declined only because I have not skated in almost 20 years and I didn't want to break an ankle before the hike down or fall through the ice to my death; I could hear the ice crack as he skated.
