"What a wonderful stay in an ancient building. The staff was friendly and courteous, and it was a beautiful reminder of the magnificence of what is Mont St Michel. Simple, compact rooms that you would expect in an inn that is of this age. A wonderful place to be after the craziness of the tour buses leave for the day and you are there with the other guests staying on the island and the locals themselves.
Did want to point out that parking is an absolute disaster. I stayed on the mount 17 years ago and was able to pull right up to the causeway. Now you have to, and it was not clear to us in any of the communications, that you have to find a particular parking lot, I think we parked in lot number three, get a code to get into the lot from someone at the hotel, then take a shuttle bus to the island, so make sure you have everything you need out of your vehicle. Having to do this ate a good deal of our vacation day, especially since we had no idea we had to do it in the first place. Giving everyone else a heads up here to expect that that is what happens there these days. Gone are the days where it wasn't overrun with tourists and their vehicles. It also is not clear as to where on the causeway you were supposed to go to get back on the shuttle to get back to your car. We stopped at 3 other buses and they were all refusing to let us on because they weren't currently either going to the parking lot, or facing the right direction to go to the parking lot."
