"We chose to stay here because of the excellent reviews, the fact that there was a restaurant at the hotel, as well as parking and breakfast. The hotel had comfort food items on the menu and I was very happy with my mac and cheese as my husband was with his meatloaf. Our bedroom was just at the top of the staircase and it was very clean and comfortable. Almost too quiet as I usually enjoy sleeping with a fan on. At 2:30 am a noise did wake me though, sounded like breaking glass, again and again. I knew we were above the kitchen and wondered if recycling was being done. I nudged my husband awake who also heard and listened to it for a few minutes before we both fell back to sleep. The next morning after our lovely breakfast of homemade pastries in the beautiful dining area we asked the staff about the noise. They couldn't explain it but did tell us some people have reported paranormal experiences at the hotel. When I later looked up that the hotel had burned once and some guests attribute the noises we heard to the sounds of glass windows breaking during the 1903 fire, well, I'm a skeptic but I heard what I heard. I would stay here again with or without ghosts. Thank you."
