The physicality is breath taking! It is close enough to Johannesburg that a quick weekend getaway is doable without driving for untold hours before you reach your destination. This is quiet hideaway, and even though Wi-Fi availability is advertised, there is no cover in the accommodation that we used. Spotty Wi-Fi is available in the reception area. The approach roadway is bad! So no small cars as you need height or off-road ability, large cars are wide and are damaged by encroaching vegetation so be prepared. 8 km of dust Road took us around 50 minutes to complete, so if you are looking for driving fun en route to your destination, then this place is great.
We Enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and relaxing place. It was great. Perfect place to unwind and destress

Disliked: Cleanliness
worst accommodation ever
It was a fiasco. incorrect gps co ordinates, wrong directions, I did expect the goverment road to be deplorable and at least I was not disappointed. The gravel road to the site is a disgrace and almost impassible. Some of the bushes could be trimmed so as not to scratch vehicles, the road can also be graded to make them a little more road worthy. I specifically asked for NO DAIRY yet I was served dairy almost immediately. Plus I was served lumpy tomato soup as substitute. How can you make lumpt tomato soup? Its not easy to, but this they excelled in. The bed base was very dusty, under the bed was no better. I went with my daughter for a short getaway after the passing of my husband and we both returned home more stressed. I cannot, in all clear conscience recommend Forest Creek Lodge. I was charged 5 star prices and received 2 star treatment. Overall review. Stay away from Forest Crook Lodge at all costs
We wanted to get away from the rush of city life, and away from people. The self catering Forrest cottage at first creek lodge was perfect! Just what we wanted to get away from "life". Would definitely recommend.
Having recently celebrated my four years on with my girlfriend and decided this would be a good time to solidify things and propose. Anita and all the staff were on board with this from the start and did an excellent job at making everything incredibly special and importantly keeping it a secret until I popped the question.
We were upgraded to the Narina Suite which was super private and wonderfully equipped; Perfect for a couple just trying to be by themselves.
Dinner was gorgeous both nights and we arranged a private gazebo dinner on the second night that provided the perfect setting for the proposal. Thanks again for the effort from the staff.
Our stay at the Forest Creek Lodge & Spa can be compared with some of the best international hotels with much higher star ratings. The staff have attended to every little bit of detail, have rendered excellent, friendly and warm service. They have done this without interfering with our privacy. The location in the mountains are great with great walks and beautiful views. An unbeatable romantic setting with privacy and luxury facilities. The meals were great and even though we were on our own on two nights were treated like kings. Well done to Anita and her staff.
