"The owner of Hotel Les Goelands is a gem of a person. Although we had a bit of a problem checking-in, he more than made up for our inconvenience with his conscientious, affable and charming personality. Hotel Les Goelands is a lovingly operated family business that has been in existence for 90 years. We enjoyed having "Grandmother's Special Cake" for dessert on the evening we had dinner in the dining room. Delicious! The breakfasts at the hotel were also very tasty. Hotel Les Goelands is indeed, a very special place, only a short walk away from the center of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. In town, be sure not to miss the Mercado Les Halles St-Jean-de-Luz and the simple, but wonderful oyster bar in the building. Market days vary according to the season, so check before you go. "La Frégate feels like a weathered beach lodge. It is clean and comfortable and the ocean view (and constant sound of the waves) is everything! The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice (for an additional €13) and the reception area features a full bar, where you can conveniently order a café or cocktail. The local buses go into Bayonne, Biarritz, Guethary or Saint Jean de Luz. Bedding and bathroom were comfortable. I wish the balcony windows had screens, as small flies appeared on warmer days. But overall, it was a wonderful stay. We recommend this hotel. "
