This is an absolutely brilliant room - the renovated rooms are superbly finished. The bed is very comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. We hope to be back soon

One of my favourite hotels I’ve stayed at. A perfect location just off of the main centre. Very quiet and very clean. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful. The breakfast options in the morning were such a treat! I’d recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed at the hotel california three times now and it's usually a good value option. The location is great and the staff are friendly. The rooms are reasonable and value for a 2 star. But the main reason I choose this hotel is for the large sun terrace. Sadly, this time, there were no sun loungers available - every single one was broken and out of use. There was no explanation given when I raised it with the management and was just told that they were waiting for the summer to get replacements. I've no idea how they can allow all the loungers to break without fixing or replacing. The marquee was also broken so overall, the impression was very disappointing and revealed a neglect of what is the hotel's main attraction. I'm not sure I would stay here again due to this significant issue. It's a shame as I liked this hotel.

Room cleaning service was not good (floor was dirty from the very first day until we left the room). Very poor room insulation (we heard our neighboring room occupant snoring the whole night for two consecutive nights). Something to be recognized is the remodeling of the rooms, very nice done.

Es muy acogedor. El personal es super amable y el hotel tiene una ubicación muy conveniente, cerca de todo, a unos pasos de la playa. Cuando vuelva a Málaga, buscaré hospedarme en este mismo hotel.

Hotel is close to the beach and Gibralfaro. Staff are very helpful, helped us to take the luggages to the room and to the lobby when we leave as our luggages are quite big.

We loved everything about the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable with an excellent shower and the breakfast was good and plentiful. Extra coffee on request!

We stayed at California 3 nights. Very nice property. Beautiful hall and reception, modern and big rooms. Delicious breakfast. Perfect service!! hotel near the beach about 6 minutes walk and 15 -20 minutes walk to the downtown.

Little Gem!
A small hotel with excellent service from start to finish. The rooms are a clean and a good a size with great facilities; mini-fridge, air-con, tea and coffee. The roof top terrace was a great place to chill out at the end of the day walking the city. Located about 1.5 km from old town you can walk or get the many buses into town.

We stayed here two nights on a road trip through Spain. This was probably our favorite hotel. Location is great - near the beach and walkable to plenty of dining and attractions. Staff were friendly, breakfast was delicious, and there's a rooftop area that's open for guests to use. We had a lovely time here.

Lovely Guesthouse
Really couldn’t fault the place. Lovely family run guesthouse close to the beach and bus line into Centro. Walked one day was around 20minutes. Comfy bed, clean bathroom. Would definitely stay again. Great terrace/balcony too.

This is a gem of a hotel! It's in a great location, only a five minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes to the historic centre. The staff were all really helpful and friendly and the room was clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing too.

Great boutique hotel. Location is perfect for the beach, but also quite close to the city. Short walk to the A bus direct to the airport. Surrounded by decent restaurants and a nearby supermarket. Highlight is the sun terrace which gets the sun all day. Air conditioning in rooms is very efficient. Breakfast is served at the table - modest servings for €10. Only downside was the smallness of the room.... would be very tight for more than one person. Also, the WiFi signal is poor and dropped out constantly in the room, and on the roof terrace. This should be sorted by the management. Overall, a 4/5.

Really enjoyed our stay, the staff were helpful. Was close to the beach and a 15min walk to castle and 35min walk to Bus Station. Found the bed really comfortable, good air con, good sized bathroom and the breakfast was brilliant to set you up for the day

Excellent hotel. Breakfast was superb - served to the table. Never could finish it all. Staff very friendly and helpful. Quiet area of Malaga but it was on a main road. It was a 5 min walk to the beach where we hired beds for 6 euros each. The hotel's roof terrace was a lovely area to sunbathe too with about 10 beds available, some with shade. It was a good 25 min walk into town but we needed it to work off the fab food we ate. Rooms spotlessly clean and of a decent size. We also had a fridge, kettle and hairdryer. No English channels on the tv though. I would very much recommend this hotel as long as you don't mind walking into town or catching a bus.

The room and hotel were very clean and comfortable. Our room (204) was very large by European standards. Plenty enough room to lay out both suitcases. Bathroom was also plenty large with lots of counter space. Not all of the the rooms are large so if you want a larger one you probably need to ask. Location was nice. A 5 minute walk to the beach and a 20-25 minute flat walk to the Alcazaba. Their are are restaurants and a grocery store nearby. It has a really nice rooftop terrace with great views and a nice terrace out the front also. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent breakfast and very cosy room. Pretty property also and located next to the beach. The location of the hotel is away from the city centre, but easy access via bus or walk to it. It can be noisy at night because the doors and cabinets are not soft touch, but the beds are cosy and we were too tired to care.

Lovely small hotel very conveniently located. Staff were all very friendly and polite. The breakfasts each morning were very good with freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit and much more. We would certainly stay there again if in Malaga.

A gem of a hotel about ten minutes walk to heart of Malaga. Would definitely stay here again and a nice terrace to use in the evening . Very friendly and helpful and no noise at all . Two minutes to the beach and to three plus restaurants

We checked in late on night 1 of what was supposed to be 3 nights stay. Our room smelled of sewer gas, there was ants in the bathroom. We heard people coming and going until 3am. We decided to check out the next morning at 7am and they charged a one night penalty. When we explained why we were leaving they would not remove the penalty. We paid the penalty because the conditions of the hotel we so poor.

Welcome to Hotel California
What a beautiful property and such a lovely welcome from friendly chap on reception. Told us about the hotel, breakfast, sun terrace, gave us a map of the area and gave us loads of info. Breakfast on the terrace was amazing. Fresh baked bread and croissants, home made olive oil cake (to die for), museli, fresh fruit and yoghurt, meats and cheese, fresh orange juice and unlimited tea and coffee. Checked on us a few times, to make we had enough/e joying it. Will definetly stay again when next back in the area.
