Hotel de la Cité Carcassonne - MGallery Collection
10/10 Excellent
"Our stay was magical. It was like stepping back in time and living in fantasy world. Carcassonne was where Walt Disney got his inspiration for Sleeping Beauty when he stayed at the hotel in the early 1950’s. Great location. Very helpful staff and great breakfast. "
"What a little gem this place is! Clean, a spacious room with working A/C and a superb view, a very comfortable bed, lovely, English speaking staff who are very helpful in recommending restaurants which are mostly nearby.
Very nicely situated near the old bridge (as per the name) and a short walk to the castle.
The hotel also owns a little shop with a great choice of wines and other drinks, cold meats and cheeses and local products and is located next to reception.
The hotel offers breakfast at 13 euros per person.
There is no lift at the hotel so bear this in mind when booking and request a lower floor room.
Don't forget, there is local tourist tax payable when you settle the bill."
"Checked in in the evening and all was fine. Bed was comfy and shower, although small, was nice and warm. In the morning I tried to use the automatic machine but it didn't work to check out. Luckily the reception opened earlier than the office time so I could check out and head to my event on time."
"This a charming boutique hotel right in front of the main gate of the citadel. We really enjoyed our stay and we can only praise the staff and the quality of the hotel.
Our only slight disappointment was the layout of the room and what we have seen it seems that they all share the same flaws. While the quality, cleanliness and space was there, we found the room crowded and badly designed. For example there is only one small table that is overloaded with a coffeemaker, a lamp and a pile of documents about everything and anything. That the easy one to fix. The bathroom is weirdly designed, same feeling it seems the architect wanted to put all possible things in a too small area for that. You have a shower, a bath, a toilet and a double sink in a space of 2.5 by 3 meters. It doesn’t really fit, leading with a tiny shower and the toilet right in front of it and no space to circulate between the sinks and the bath."
