"Upon entering the room, we saw roaches near the bed. We did not stay. I returned the key to the receptionist and told her we could not stay here. She had a bad response and took the key from me. I did not stay in this hotel and will not return."
"I have always enjoyed staying at Hampton and have consistently received great service, which is why this experience was so disappointing.
We left our room early in the morning expecting it to be cleaned by the time we returned, but it had not been serviced. When I went to the front desk to inquire, I was told that housekeeping needed to prioritize rooms from guests who had checked out so they could be prepared for incoming guests. While I understand that process, in my experience at other hotels, housekeeping is usually able to service occupied rooms before afternoon check-in times.
We left again and returned later, only to find that the room still had not been properly cleaned. Fresh towels had been left, and the beds were made, but the sheets had not been changed nor the floor was vacuum nor wiped. There was also a clump of hair on the floor that had not been picked up which was very disappointing.
I do want to recognize one staff member who stood out. She had short curly hair and was incredibly kind and welcoming to everyone. Unfortunately, I did not get her name, but she provided excellent customer service and made a positive impression during our stay.
I will continue to choose Hampton because of my past positive experiences, but I hope housekeeping standards improve to match the level of service I have come to expect from the brand."
"If you enjoy watching homeless people fight in the parking lot, this is the place for you. If you wish to get acquainted with the local police just so you can get out of your vehicle in the parking lot without being accosted or hurt by said fighting people, please stay here. The staff are rude. The entire trip was nothing short of a nightmare. Moved hotels less than 24 hours later and forfeited money to get away from this place. Avoid like the plague."
"Breakfast is great for the price. I don't like the locks personally. It's very difficult to get in the room as the card doesn't work most of the time."
"There was only one working elevator out of two when we arrived. The second day of our stay the last elevator broke. This left us having to go up and down 6 flights of stairs. The staff was incredibly rude and yelled at guests when they had concerns about getting to and from their rooms. We checked out early as this was the final straw. I lugged all our bags down 6 flights of stairs.
The room was outdated, but more importantly it was unclean. The chair was falling apart and stained. The couch was covered in stains. The entire room was dusty.
It also “shares space” with an extended stay option that is housing people who are currently experiencing homelessness- which is fine, but was not mentioned anywhere as an option- or we likely wouldn’t have stayed their with younger children."
"It has been awhile since we last stayed in New Haven Hotel. It exceeded our expectations in many aspects, and we would likely come back during our future visits."
