"Rooms are very modern with a TV screen embedded into the bathroom mirror! Shower roomy enough for two with a standard shower head and a rain shower head. Water closet for privacy. Rooms on the higher floors have a better view of the Mississippi River. When checking in, staff didn't ask about a smoking room or non-smoking room. Our room had this sign,
"This is a Non-Smoking Room.
If smoking occurs during your stay a $250 Cleaning Fee will be billed to your account." River City Casino and hotel does not clean your room daily, but on the third day. We stayed only one day so I don't know the frequency after the third day."
"I was a little weary from some of the recent reviews. But our experience was totally fine. Room was clean. Bathroom was clean. The lobby was a little busy and worn. Construction going on outside is a little unsightly and inconvenient, especially as you drive up to the hotel. Free Breakfast was good enough. Nothing really negative to say about the hotel and the room itself. I really didn't need help from the staff, so I can't tell you if they were going to be helpful or not.
The surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired. It's run down. I know a lot of cities have this issue, but there are a LOT of homeless people milling about at all hours of the day/night. Especially at the Library across the street from the hotel. There are very few (if any) places to walk to get a reasonable bite to eat. If you're doing anything at the Convention Center, it's about a quarter mile walk to the entrance. That is convenient. Walking back to the hotel at night, just be aware of your surroundings.
Parking tip: if you want to skip the valet parking, and you don't really have to drive too much or at all after you've settled into the hotel, try to get parking on the street nearby. You'll have to renew every two hours (there's an app), but once it hits 8pm, it's free until 8am the next day.
The workout room was fantastic. They have on site laundry, although I did not need to use that.
In a pinch, I'd stay here again. Not a bad, cheaper alternative."
"Our AC did not cool properly, the staff made it right by moving us into another room. Very nice hotel and the area around is safe. Restaurants at the hotel are all good. I would recommend staying there."
