"The host was very welcoming and made everything very fun. He had mican and snacks and water for us. He didn't speak much English, but he had a detailed book about the place with pictures and explanations in English. The place was so Quaint and over 100 years old, but we'll maintained and clean with modern amenities. The futon and bedding were very comfortable. We loved the elaborate garden with fish to feed and the whole ryokan experiences. We were going to go to Matsuyama for shopping after...

"A beautiful place for an overnight stay - clean, new and the futon bedding was very comfortable. The public bath was quiet and peaceful and we also enjoyed the private bath in our room. We had dinner in our room which was delicious. "

"An excellent location for staying in the Matsuyama Dogo Onsen area, the Yamatoya Honten is an older but very well-kept hotel with a very wide range of amenities at an affordable price. I was very surprised to find my room featured a massage chair! The public bath here receives its onsen water from the same source as the Dogo Onsen building itself and offers complimentary snacks and drinks after bathing. Breakfast came with either an option for traditional Japanese or Western, and was excellent."
