"We have stayed here once a year for the past 3 years. It is always clean, quiet and well maintained. The staff are so nice and helpful and the breakfast is hot and lots of variety. It makes our trip to that area so nice."

"I will start with the positive. We got massages and the spa was nice. The massages were good. The steakhouse was wonderful and the manager there, the waitress and the staff throughout Oglebay were really good. Now for the not so good: We were there for our 40th anniversary, which they had in their system, but we were given a room in one of the lodge wings that only had a view of the wall belonging to the next building of rooms. Most of the rooms in our section had balconies you could go out on and had views. Not ours. Took some of the specialness of going there for our anniversary away and we spent alot there with the massages, the room, the steak house and drinks. You would think we would have been given a better view. The zoo was closed and there are no longer deer roaming about. We used to love watching them when we went for the holiday season. The gift shops had a lot less to offer and the one in the actual lodge has been condensed with a coffee shop and is way smaller than it used to be. I have been here during the holidays and would recommend going there at that time, not any other time. Unless you are a golfer. There is a crazy hilly golf course you might appreciate."

"The condition of the exterior was terrible. Lots of water damage. The lobby and game room had ceiling falling down. Carpet was nasty. Bedroom smelled like marijuana and mold. Do not stay at this hotel. It is not worth a dollar a night. The front desk clerk kept leaving and coming back, rubbing his nose like he was doing drugs. "
