"We had a very pleasant stay at Chambres d'Hotes les Clefs du bonheur. The owners were friendly and helpful. Room very nice and spacious and everything that was in the description was there. Very quiet and close to the center. We recommend it"
"The standard room was slightly cramped and looked and felt a bit tatty décor wise with cheap furniture.
You had to ring a phone a phone on the reception desk to gt a reception to come over from the adjoining hotel. Makes you feel inferior to those staying in the adjoining hotel. There only appeared to be one member of staff in the breakfast area which meant tables were often waiting to be cleared and relaid for other guests"
"Our night at the Chateau had to be the single most memorable night of our trip.
I loved it; my other half was a bit freaked by it all.
The property is a long way from anywhere down a stone road. The wildlife is incredible (I’ve never heard an all-night frog chorus before and the deer roam freely through the meadows). It is basically a private house offering rooms and a basic breakfast- not a hotel… it’s very much like taking an Air BnB room.
The owner is a character but speaks virtually no English- this isn’t for you if you’re not able to get by in French.
The house is unique, and speaks of grandeur in the way that old piles do. It felt like spending the night in a National Trust Manor House before they’ve done it up.
If you want a night in deepest Anjou where you’re left to yourself to explore a chateau and can sit drinking wine under a tree with a cat purring on your lap, this is worth a go. If you’ve got young kids, you can’t speak much French or have mobility issues (there’s a spiral staircase), stay somewhere else. "
