"This is a great place to stay to explore the Cabot trail area. We had a lake view room with a beautiful view. Rooms are clean although a little dated. The carpet could be replaced. The restaurant is good too but was only open for breakfast during our stay. We did not use any other amenities due to time of year."

"We stayed in the Old Barn section of the property and I think the name speaks for itself (although it shouldn't at a resort setting). The building has character, but also a very bad old smell. There are small things that can be changed to still keep the character but get rid of the old musk smell. The room was not very clean unfortunately. It looks like there was black mold in the AC system. Bathroom was also just quickly wiped by the looks of it. Really easy to replace the shower curtain for something slightly more heavy so it doesn't fly onto you when you're showering. The actual property was very nice because it was large so lots of room to walk and it's on the water. A few changes would make this place great but unfortunately the current state of the cleaning/ the old barn in general is what I would not recommend."

"The receptionist at check-in was terrible. I said hi three times and she never responded. She didn’t smile or seem friendly at all. While my friend was filling out the check-in paperwork, I said that I wanted to check in as well, and she replied, “I’m doing one right now,” in a very rude tone. Those were the first words she said to me. I do have to say that the property manager was very nice. He made the fire for us, was helpful, and treated us kindly throughout our stay. However, my first impression because of the receptionist was terrible. I honestly don’t remember ever being treated with such disrespect and lack of kindness while receiving service during a vacation. Also, the reservation was not clear that I would receive a bedroom instead of a dome. My expectation was that I had reserved a dome, since that is what was shown on Hotels.com, but when I arrived on site, I was given a bedroom instead. Plus, the hot tub that was advertised was not like the pictures at all. It was not placed with a view as expected, and it was just a small inflatable tub that could barely fit one person at a time."

"We were booked for this motel on our return trip from Newfoundland, as well as this stay on our way to NFLD. I have since cancelled the second stay. The motel's pictures show a decent enough room, but what they don't show are the rust stained bathroom faucet and rust stained bathtub. There is no microwave in the room, although I was told I could use the one in the office/lobby. No thank you..... There was also no coffee maker in the room. Overall, we just weren't impressed, and we definitely wouldn't go back."

"I stayed on two separate occasions at the motel twice in a week in two different rooms. The first stay I would rate a 9/10 and the second a 7/10. Both were clean and comfortable. The water sound from the the room next door was extremely loud in the 2nd room. The staff are excellent, friendly and very helpful. Convenient stay to the ferry to Newfoundland."

"The property was beautiful with pretty gardens. The room was a good size, and I had a great view of the grounds and the lake. The staff in the restaurant were attentive and service was prompt. Would stay here again for sure!"
