"Everything was fine but maybe rooms could do with some air conditioning as it was very hot the two days we stayed."

"An elegantly appointed fairly formal country house in a beautiful rural setting, not far from a tiny small village. The rooms are comfortable and the hosts provide a great breakfast. Access to and from the property from the A roads was interesting to say the least. Single lane “roads” for the 2 miles either side of the property require a fair degree of both caution and concentration. Some parts will barely allow a car to pass. That said, it is worth the trip. Just do it slowly!"

Royal Oak Inn

"The location was good, nestled in the moor in a small village, complete with shop, river and old bridge: very Devon! We wish that we could say that the pub food in our Inn was good; it wasn't. Overpriced, bland and in the case of the vegetables, undercooked even beyond a fashionable crunch. 'Raw' comes to mind. The pub public areas were shut at 9pm and the staff went home. We actually felt rather abandoned! In all, not a good experience"

"It's always difficult going into the unknown especially when considering all the potential ups or downsides. Always have a level of expectation that's keeps oneself honest. So honestly, we were just looking for a place to stay that was local for our requirements, where could eat or have a drink if we wanted an easy life. Happily upon arrival we were more than happy with the room, both location and size and layout were great for us. Maybe a slight bit of apprehension about being above the bar but that was our choice to stay and we knew that before hand. That said we had very little to be concerned of in actual fact. Noise levels were not intrusive, and to be honest we didn't ever hear anything. Super quiet and well insulated or just very quiet pub So defo not negatives there. There is a bit of noise from the road but that's to be expected and only really noticeable because of the super hot ambient temps over that current wknd so windows open for some breeze. Comfortable quiet clean room with a decent usable space and layout. Breakfast included and tailored to suit our needs with super reliable staff and quality food served quickly, efficienly and without a single issues whatsoever . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had zero stress at any part of the time there. Food and stay all better than expected. Would not hesitate to rebook Thanks for effort 👌"
