This is such a unique place to stay, quality and class in every respect. Lots of classy extras and cool history about the property. I highly recommend staying here. Wonderful ownership who are very friendly. Very clean place as well.
They were able to accommodate us last minute and got apartment ready while we had dinner. We only planned to stay one night, but were so happy with apartment was able to extend our stay another night while visiting the neighboring national parks. The bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Place was clean, comfortable and plenty of space. Certainly met our needs.

The home was cute but the mattresses need to be replaced. Loved having a full kitchen because I love to cook!
While tiny and a bit rustic, this is a charming place and we were glad to come back "home ", so to spesk, at the end of the day. The instructions were clear and we would recommend it.
This unit gives a new definition to the concept "cozy." It is a converted storage shed between two houses in a residential area of Blanding. The room is so small there is no room for a table or chairs, so the only place to sit and eat is on the deck, which faces the front yard of the property. When it rains, and it did, the only place left in the unit to sit and eat is on the bed. The unit is so small the bath is 3/4, with a shower stall and toilet. When seated on the toilet, leaning forward results in one's head being in the shower stall, which is an inconvenience for a tall person such as myself. I can imagine this unit would work for short people who eat exclusively at restaurants during inclement weather. But, that didn't work for me because I cannot eat gluten, and there are no gluten free restaurants in the area that I was able to locate. I'll be back some day to visit canyonlands, because the area and the parks are fantastic. But, I will definitely find lodging elsewhere.
We put a lot of miles on the rental car during this trip and the two nights we spent at Grand Ma's was just what the doctor ordered. The washer and dryer allowed us to get caught up on our laundry and the hot tub felt great after a long day of driving and hiking. The facility was very clean and the owners were just a phone call away if we needed them for anything. We would stay here again the next time we find ourselves in this area. It is a good location to base out of for sight seeing and hiking.
- Bed and pillows comfortable
- Everything was clean and spacious
- Probably one of the nicest places in Blanding
- Directions “coming from Monticello” do not make it clear that it is right on the north edge of Blanding 20 minutes south of Monticello
- Pix in Trip Advisor deceiving ... sunsets, large cabin type buildings slowly lead to reality... last three pix are real but don’t show it’s right on the highway. Attached pix is it ... you get the ground level and someone lives upstairs.
- No fan over stove ... smoke alarm went off as I pan fried a steak ... pulled alarm off the mount and put it outside
- Ice maker does not work ... ice cubes in the trays were old ... cubes were full of crystals and half way eaten away by sitting so long
- Dogs barking in yard in the back .... not too bad
- Pages of ‘how too’ and plastic labels all over everything trying to explain the numerous ‘idiosyncrasies.’ But everything worked.
- Bed room is right next to Hwy 191 ... road noise consistent but amazingly not too bad
Grandma's House is a great basecamp for adventures in Natural Bridges, Canyonlands, Arches and other wilderness opportunities. The house had a well equipped kitchen, which is important to us. The bed was comfortable. We unfortunately did not take advantage of the hot tub, but it looked like a nice one. Staff expeditiously responded to our request to turn the heat on. If you're planning to do only Arches, it is an hour plus drive. If you're looking to do more trails, it is closer to Canyonlands and Bridges.
Blanding is a sleepy little town, with a grocery store and a couple simple looking restaurants - we didn't try any due to dietary allergies. Monticello is a little bigger and about 20 miles north.
This is a very nice place to stay. You can really feel the owners try to make your experience as good as it can get. They have made a binder full of attractions in the area, which was very nice. The house is very small, but it doesn't really matter, when you are only two people. The private hottub was very nice also. Definitely recommended!
Cute little house with local history. Lots of great details such as barbecue, fun artwork, outdoor table and chairs, reading lamps over bed. House is small but it was nice to have privacy after being on road for over a week.
