Vila Gale Tavira Resort Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"From a smooth check-in by friendly, efficient staff to a similar experience on departure, the hotel was a very enjoyable experience. Although busy, the breakfast-time was organised and operated extremely well - to me, always a sign of a good hotel: tables cleared and re-set quickly and the wide food choices replenished rapidly. I used the pool bar for snacks and drinks and, again, found the staff courteous, friendly and helpful. Our third floor room was v spacious, clean in all areas with a simple to operate A/C. The only minor blemish of the week (really!) were the soap/shampoo dispensers in the bath/shower, which needed a bit of adjustment at first to get them to work. I would strongly recommend the Hotel given my experience there."
"No frills, super clean. Perfect place for a night for this solo traveler who needed to be at Faro airport at 4am. 10-15 min safe walk down a well lit sidewalk to the airport, no taxi needed if you can handle your luggage. Friendly staff spoke English and check-in was a breeze. But distant from downtown Faro attractions/restaurants, so either get food first, or plan on taxi if you need to go out before your flight."
"We spent only one night here. The location is great- right on the beach, and we got a suite for more space overlooking the beautiful wide promenade. Unfortunately, the only suite left had 2 twins pushed together as opposed to a king bed. The bed was comfortable and the linens we nice. The pillows could have been a little softer but there were extra.pillows available. I wish they had hair conditioner in the shower and body lotion available.
The pool looked a little small, but it was available with pool lounge chairs. You can "rent" beach towels from the front desk for 2€ ( and a €10 deposit). The gorgeous beach is at your doorstep. They have a parking garage but we found free parking in front of the hotel on the street
The lobby is clean and modern with a bar overlooking the beach. The buffet breakfast was decent. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
The front entrance could have better signage from a side view driving towards it. Also, the parking spots across the street - it was not clear if those belonged to the residents in the houses behind them . But overall, we enjoyed our stayed."
"Excellent position. Quiet, but central.
Lovely and relaxing sitting outside dining with the marina below and the lagoon type water area beyond.
Excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff."
"Stayed for 1 wk, during which time a golf tournament was on. There was a distinct change in the clientele and business of the hotel post tournament.
Staff on arrival only provided most basic information and we were left to find out for ourselves info about the facilities at the hotel.
Room was clean and comfortable. Stayed on b & b rate choosing to eat out at the many restaurants within the marina
Breakfast was a buffet arrangement with plenty of choice. Being coeliac, there was a dedicated gf area and toaster although be wary as non gf helped themselves to gf food. Disappointingly cooked breakfast was not gf and high risk of cross contamination. Chocolate spread open to all so cross contaminated. Difficult to explain this to staff although most spoke very good English. Tea very slow to arrive.
We had 2 bookings due to a flight change by easyjet but took 4 attempts to get staff to agree we could stay in same room after first booking. They did recognise our wedding anniversary and sons birthday with a special treat in room which was really nice.
Balconies on beach side in shade, marina side noisy but fantastic views.
Great resort for those with mobility difficulties
Pool not deep, not heated either but nice to take a quick dip.
Drinks and food by pool very expensive, £40 for 3 drinks and fries.
Beds on beach start at €40 per day and private pool €150 euros per day. 20% discount if staying in hotel.
No ambience or real atmosphere in hotel of evening. Enjoyable stay."
"Nice location and really good breakfast. Room was very comfortable and well decorated. Location was great - right on the marina and walkable to a really great park and markets, shops & restaurants. Gym hours are limited (didn't open until 8am) and the temperature in it was too warm for me, but otherwise gym was great. Pool area was really nice, too. Hallways look dated but everything else looked great."
