"Fabulous Relais & Chateaux hotel located in the middle of the upper part of Provence (Haut Provence), excellent service, beautiful property. We were upgraded to the Villa des Anges with a large living room and full kitchen, semi-private natural and organic pool. We enjoyed a superb dinner chez "La Table de Xavier Mathieu", a one-star Michelin restaurant, the "Pistou" soup was extraordinary, the sommelier and servers were great. Xavier Mathieu is the chef and owner of the property, which has been with his family since the 1980s. The vista is beautiful and you can see the cliffs of Roussillon from the salon."
"The only word that describes this place is magical. We truly fell in love with the town of Venasque. Amazing restaurants . The breakfast was amazing at the hotel. The owners were so incredibly wonderful, friendly, and helpful. Anything we needed they were able to help whether it was medicine, packaging materials, laundry and local advice on where to go. Beautiful property and highly suggest getting the two bed room so you can have a beautiful patio. We ended up extending our stay because we loved this place so much!"
"Its a beautiful Hotel in Roussillon in a nice surrounding. It has very nice rooms, clean and recently renovated (excellent, modern bathroom!), very nice staff and an outstanding breakfast with lot‘s of local specialties, e.g. honey, cheese, meat etc.)."
"The lovely couple who own and run the hotel and restaurant are very professional, attentive and responsive. The property is very clean and appointed nicely. The decor is lovely, modern but very welcoming. We very much enjoyed our stay and would come again!"
"We spent a wonderful three nights here as part of our honeymoon and couldn't be happier! The hotel was beautiful, and our room was big, airy and very clean -- with a comfortable bed and jacuzzi tub. The pool was a very welcome amenity and set in such a gorgeous garden. As we visited during a heatwave, we happily spent a lot of our time by the pool and were able to grab delicious glasses of local wine from the hotel bar to have poolside!
The staff were all lovely and incredibly helpful, and we loved wandering the windy streets of Mazan."
"This hotel is stunningly set in the countryside on spectacularly beautiful grounds. Staff is excellent and helpful. Breakfast was to die for with some of the best croissants I’ve ever eaten. The restaurant was very good indeed, and there are excellent alternatives ten minutes away in St-Saturnin-les-Apts as well. The place has a very calming ambience that we loved.
Our villa was Amoureaux, a very interestingly decorated place. It is, however, not a practical place to stay (though the bed was very comfortable), ESPECIALLY if you have any mobility issues. The bedroom is upstairs while the toilet is downstairs. In between the two are a set of hair-raising steep bare concrete stairs without any railings that have danger written all over them.
The point of this review is not to dissuade you from staying at this property- we would return again in a heartbeat- it is indeed spectacular. If you simply book any other villa besides this one, we can guarantee a very pleasant stay- just not Amoureaux."
